Carlisle Place 6 Preview | 16th February

13.05 Conference & Events At Carlisle Racecourse Novices’ Hurdle

JOHNNY’S JURY shaped promisingly when third on hurdles debut at Ffos Las and was an extremely impressive winner at Exeter on his first start for this stable when defeating a useful prospect at Exeter by nine lengths. With more to come, it’s hard to see him out of the frame, so he’s quite a confident choice to go close in the opener.

Tips: JOHNNY’S JURY

The drop in shade should see HERE COMES GEORGIE be able to land a blow. He went very close when second at Doncaster two starts back and a reproduction of that performance should see him in the mix. NETYWELL is lurking on a dangerous mark and has plenty of good course form, so he’s another to consider.

Tips: HERE COMES GEORGIE & NETYWELL

14.05 Come Racing At Carlisle In 2026 Maiden Hurdle

This can go the way of the odds-on favourite, HE’S ON FIRE. He was last seen finishing second in France and will start out for a stable that always does well with rare runners across the country. I can see him outclassing this field under Patrick Mullins, who has his only ride on the card.

Tips: HE’S ON FIRE

14.35 Book Your Raceday Hospitality Now Handicap Chase

Despite conceding so much weight to his rivals, SAINT DAVY must have an excellent chance. His third at Windsor last month was solid and he’s bound to improve for the run. That form has already started to work out well, so provided he doesn’t suffer the bounce-factor, the nine-year-old can make a bold bid.

Tips: SAINT DAVY

15.05 Carlisle Conditional Jockeys’ Novices’ Limited Handicap Hurdle

PARISH STAR is fancied to bring up the hat trick. She has won both of her latest starts comfortably and an 8lb should not be enough to stop her from going in again. She’s the one in seriously good form and this race doesn’t look competitive. She’s difficult to oppose.

Tips: PARISH STAR

15.35 Sandy Molloy Memorial Handicap Hurdle

VAMPIRE SLAYER has undoubtedly turned a corner of late, going from a long losing sequence to winning the last two times. He’s up another 9lb in the handicap but is getting better and better and there could be more to offer. He is selected to hopefully complete the hat trick given he’s full of confidence.

Tips: VAMPIRE SLAYER
