Harry Wilson is showing that he’s one of the most naturally gifted players in the Premier League

Harry Wilson is having his own personal Goal of the Season campaign for Fulham this term. There’s already a few to choose from. His opportunistic long-range goal against Tottenham Hotspur was an excellent finish while the outside-of-the-boot goal against Crystal Palace was nonchalantly brilliant.

Wilson’s goal against Burnley on Saturday was another cultured finish into the far corner of the net, capping a free-flowing attacking move by Fulham. It might not have been the Welshman’s most eye-catching goal of the season so far, but it was an all-round performance that highlighted his growing influence.

At the time of writing, Wilson is in the form of his life. He has registered at least one goal contribution in each of his last four outings for Fulham, tallying five goals and three assists in 15 Premier League appearances on the whole. He is the Cottagers’ top scorer and their best player in the final third of the pitch.

Talent has never been an issue for Wilson. He was highly rated as a youngster at Liverpool where he might have had a more fruitful senior career had things panned out a little differently. Over the course of six different loan spells, Wilson improved with almost every season he played.

It was in a loan spell at Fulham in the 2021/22 season, however, which saw Wilson take a big step forward in his development, prompting the Craven Cottage outfit to sign him permanently. From that moment until now, Wilson has become a key figure for a Marco Silva team that continues to over-achieve in the Premier League.

As a goalscorer and a creator, Wilson is at the peak of his powers at this moment in time. He is averaging more shots on goal than any other Fulham player this season, highlighting the attacking threat he is posing on a weekly basis. Wilson has always liked a shot and is now testing goalkeepers more regularly than ever before.

Wilson is also averaging a high number of key passes per game with the Welsh international also contributing Fulham’s second-most crosses per game. The 28-year-old is a one-man attacking hub with the Cottagers edging closer to the top half of the table on the back of Wilson’s recent exploits. He is their main man in every way.

“Clearly in my opinion, he’s in the best moment of his career so far,” said Silva when asked about Wilson’s match-defining performance in the recent victory over Burnley. “Both assists were top and his goal was a top, top level. Off the ball, he’s working very hard to help the team. What a night from him – decisive again.”

On the whole, Fulham have struggled for consistency this season. They have won four of their last seven games, losing the other three. It’s because of this that the Cottagers still find themselves in the bottom half of the Premier League table. Three points, however, is all that’s between them and the top 10.

As good as 2025 has been for Wilson, 2026 could be even better. The 28-year-old is a key member of Craig Bellamy’s Wales team with qualification for the 2026 World Cup still on the cards. Wilson scored a hat trick in Wales’ last qualifier against North Macedonia and is just as influential for his national team as he is for Fulham.

Whether it’s as a goalscorer or a creator, Wilson is fulfilling the potential he demonstrated earlier in his career. There aren’t many in the Premier League on the Welshman’s technical level, nor are there many who can be counted on more heartily for a big moment in a big match.
