DROP KICK displayed a willing attitude to score at this course on handicap debut last time out and should have more to offer off only a 6lb higher mark. HALF TRACK finished second in this race twelve months ago off a 10lb higher mark and must enter calculations if he can reproduce that effort.

JUBY BALL won both starts over hurdles last season, beating two subsequent winners with considerable ease. It’s interesting to see him switched to fences now and I think he will develop into a very smart chaser. From what we have seen, Evan Williams’ charge seems above average, so hopefully he can make a successful reappearance.

13.15 John Budden Memorial British EBF ‘National Hunt’ Novices’ Hurdle

BLOFELD absolutely bolted up on debut in a bumper at Ayr back in February and might have been found a good opportunity to remain unbeaten now he has his sights set on a hurdling campaign. Newcomer THE BURREN MAN is feared most though being Harry Derham’s only runner on the card.

Olly Murphy’s PIERROT JAGUEN looks a stamp of a chaser and whatever he did over hurdles would be a huge bonus given his scope. An opening mark of 124 ahead of this handicap debut seems lenient and I fancy him to make a big impact off top-weight. The trip and ground will surely bring the best out in him.

14.15 Bet On PricedUp Handicap Hurdle

Evan Williams runs two and the one I like is OUT OF OFFICE. He was last seen finishing second to subsequent Grand Sefton winner Colonel Harry and returns from an absence back over hurdles off a 4lb lower mark. If the seven-year-old is fit enough, then he should go well. THAT ONE ended last season on a high, winning two of his last three starts and has leading claims.

14.48 Racing Blogger Handicap Chase

This is wide-open. However, course winner UPTOWN HARRY has become so well handicapped and cannot be dismissed. Others to consider include SUPER CITIZEN, DON BROCCO and HOLD THE NOTE.
