Hexham Place 6 Preview | 3rd October
14.10 Greenhead Hotel ‘National Hunt’ Novices’ Hurdle
Lucinda Russell’s SPADESTEP looks more than capable of landing the opening event. He’s been beaten just a neck on both starts under rules into second.
There’s no doubt he would have beaten Junker D’allier last time out without hanging late on, so with more to come after a break, the six-year-old can get off the mark at the expense of Frammy.
Tips: SPADESTEP
14.45 Martin Bowler Memorial Novices’ Limited Handicap Hurdle
SLEMISH left all previous form behind him when second on handicap debut at Fontwell back in August.
The handicapper has bumped his mark up by 5lb, but there’s surely more under the bonnet, and it would come a bit of a surprise if he wasn’t bang in contention at the finish.
The one to beat in a moderate event.
Tips: SLEMISH
15.20 Carol & Malcolm Humble 20th Wedding Anniversary Handicap Hurdle
Jennie Candlish has her team in good order so the vote is handed to T OR COFFEY. He came very close to scoring at Cork on his penultimate start when third before making a successful stable debut at Stratford in July.
Now that he’s got that winning feeling, there’s optimism to thinking he may be able to kick on and rack up a sequence for connections. He gets the verdict ahead of main dangers Winds Of Winter and Double Digits.
Tips: T OR COFFEY
15.53 Gordon Scorer Birthday Celebration Handicap Hurdle
DIVILABROTHER has made a positive start for his handler, winning over C&D on stable debut prior to only finding one too good in a much stronger event when last seen.
The seven-year-old is back down in class off only a pound higher mark. A lot of his rivals need improvement, so he looks the standout choice. The returning Clonmel Kid might be able to follow him home.
Tips: DIVILABROTHER
16.27 Pest Arrest Pest Control North East Handicap Hurdle
Nicky Henderson sends a rare runner to the course in the shape of LELANTOS. All three of the nine-year-old’s wins have been achieved off higher marks and his third at Newton Abbot last time out was a decent effort.
With Brian Hughes booked to ride, I think he’s worth an interest because he has the form to pose a serious threat.
Tips: LELANTOS
17.02 Congratulations Luke England & Jessica Lee Handicap Chase
The largely consistent AM STILL HERE should be winning soon.
Nicky Richards’ charge has been placed on his last six starts, including five seconds and has undergone wind surgery since his run at Perth.
Off an unchanged figure, this could be the time he finally gets his head in front.
Tips: AM STILL HERE
