Warwick Place 6 Preview | 23rd September
14.20 PricedUp The Jumps’ Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Chase
This isn’t a strong race and the vote goes to the Alex Hales-trained GONE IN SIXTY, who was back to form when runner-up off a lower mark over fences last time out and is only 2lb higher. He would only need to repeat that performance to take this weak opener.
Tips: GONE IN SIXTY
14.58 PricedUp Novices’ Hurdle (GBB Race) (Div 1)
JOGN BARBOUR should take a bit of beating in the second race on the card. This bumper winner scored at the time of asking over hurdles at Newbury last season before finishing second in a decent race at Southwell.
He disappointed on handicap debut in a deep event at Sandown when last seen, but this is easier, so he’s fancied to have a big say in the matter.
Tips: JOHN BARBOUR
15.28 PricedUp Novices’ Hurdle (GBB Race) (Div 2)
Dan Skelton’s BEAU QUALI has yet to score so far, but he’s finished runner-up in three of his six starts and a repeat of any of those efforts should see him off the mark.
It won’t be easy for him up against four last-time-out winners, but hopefully he can put his experience to good use and run a big race. Hurdle debut winners Squeezebox and Currumbin are likely to offer the biggest threat.
Tips: BEAU QUALI
15.58 pricedup.bet Mares’ Handicap Hurdle
BELLE MONTROSE already looks like a better chaser than a hurdler and I was really taken with the way she moved through the race when scoring at Uttoxeter earlier this month.
Her handler seems keen to try and exploit her hurdles mark, which is only a pound higher, and I think she has a great chance.
Tips: BELLE MONTROSE
16.30 Paul Ferguson’s Jumpers To Follow Handicap Chase
PRESENTANDCOUNTING won at Uttoxeter on his penultimate start by six lengths and ran really well to finish third at Bangor in a higher grade event considering he lost his right fore and hind shoe. Perhaps if he didn’t lose them, the result might have been different.
The handicapper has surprisingly dropped him a pound, so with his sights lowered, and in the hope the same issue doesn’t happen again, Donald McCain’s veteran could be a major player in receipt of weight from the remainder.
Tips: PRESENTANDCOUNTING
17.00 Propel Finance Novices’ Handicap Chase
BUMPY EVANS was miles clear when he fell mid-race at Uttoxeter on stable debut last week, but if that fall hasn’t knocked his confidence, then compensation should be forthcoming for Kerry Lee’s new recruit.
This winning machine for Tim Vaughan has been left on the same mark, so although that latest run was inconclusive into how he would have fared, I do think he can rank a bit higher, so he’s fancied to make amends.
Tips: BUMPY EVANS
