Chepstow Place 6 Preview | 7th August

17.30 Racing League 15 Handicap

JUAN LES PINS remains on a lengthy losing run but he’s shaped well of late at York, placing in a pair of big-field handicaps and has become dangerously well handicapped.

If things work out for the eight-year-old, then surely he’s going to be competitive. His customary late charge should be enough to see him make the frame at the very least.

Tips: JUAN LES PINS

18.00 Racing League 16 Handicap

SWORD ran a huge race when third to Two Tribes in a competitive handicap at Ascot last time out and would have finished even closer to the winner with a clear run.

The winner boosted the form by winning the Stewards’ Cup when last seen, so off only a 2lb higher mark, the top weight looks a major player eased in grade.

Tips: SWORD

18.30 Racing League 17 Handicap

I’m liking the chances of BRIAN, who finished third in the Chesham Stakes last summer and produced a good performance when fourth in a Group 3 event on his stable debut.

He wasn’t disgraced in the Jersey Stakes last time out and an opening mark of 100 on handicap debut seems lenient. If he’s on his game, I think he’s got the class in his locker to beat this field.

Tips: BRIAN

19.00 Racing League 18 Handicap

RIOT has six career wins and numerous placed efforts off higher marks and the way he’s performed this year is an indication that his turn is surely near.

He had no luck in-running when eighth of 22 at York last time out but still ran well in defeat and his effort can be marked up. He’s also finished second twice year.

David O’Meara’s capable sprinter has plenty in his favour, so in the open he gets better time of things during the race, I reckon the eight-year-old is ready to strike.

Tips: RIOT

19.30 Racing League 19 Handicap

I’m going to nominate BILLIE BE QUICK, who ran a lot better than his position implied last time out and is worth another chance off an unchanged mark. She is an extremely consistent filly and Danny Tudhope’s riding style could well suit.

There is going to be plenty of pace and that will help, as she likes to come through late. If the gaps open for her, I think she will be playing a prominent role for the Jessica Harrington team.

Tips: BILLIE BE QUICK

20.00 Racing League 20 Handicap

The Joseph O’Brien-trained BESET has been rock-solid in handicaps and has a win and two placed efforts on the grass in this code.

She bumped into a well treated sort when second at Goodwood before not getting a clear run when staying on well to finish third at the Curragh last time out.

She’s back in the UK off only a 2lb higher mark and looks sure to take a hand in the finish. Finley Marsh takes the ride on the Irish raider.

Tips: BESET
