Cartmel Place 6 Preview | 29th June
14.10 AW Blake Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle
GREEN BONNET made a solid start to her career when runner-up at Kelso, and any normal improvement should see her thereabouts, for Lucinda Russell. MISS JM REIDY displayed promise when third in a bumper last month and has more to come as well, so she cannot be taken lightly under Jordan Gainford.
Tips: GREEN BONNET & MISS JM REIDY

IMPERIAL DATA scored over C&D last summer and wasn’t beaten far when fifth in a much stronger race here last month when losing three places on the run-in due to being a non-stayer over the trip. This shorter distance will suit her better, so she should be in the mix. Irish raider DUE COURSE and the largely consistent GREATNESS AWAITS are others to consider.
Tips: IMPERIAL DATA, DUE COURSE & GREATNESS AWAITS
15.15 Burlington Stone Novices’ Limited Handicap Hurdle
DICKENS made the perfect start for connections when scoring by 13 lengths at Hexham a week ago. The seven-year-old escapes a penalty for that emphatic success, so if his stamina holds out, then he’s a serious player. GETAWAY WITH YOU placed twice last year off this mark and shouldn’t be far away on these terms.
Tips: DICKENS & GETAWAY WITH YOU
15.50 Oakmere Homes Handicap Hurdle
FIVEONEFIVE won this race in 2023 and is only a pound higher than when successful twelve months ago. He’s undoubtedly been targeted at the race again, so with the headgear refitted, the seven-year-old has every chance in his hat trick bid. AUCUNRISQUE has proven hard to beat when in the mood though, so he’s included.
Tips: FIVEONEFIVE & AUCUNRISQUE
16.30 Oakmere Homes Handicap Chase
RIAAN ran well at the Cheltenham and Punchestown Festival but got no further than the eighth fence when unseating his rider in the Perth Gold Cup three weeks ago. If he can put in a clear round, Gordon Elliott’s charge should go well. Top weight TOMMIE BEAU has an excellent record here and won’t go down without a fight.
Tips: RIAAN & TOMMIE BEAU
17.05 Beckside Spa Retreat Handicap Chase
THE KING OF MAY is only 1in higher than when scoring here last July and should be sharper from his comeback fourth at Hexham two weeks ago. He should be in the firing line, while course regular JELSKI is a three-time winner at the venue and can compete off a career-low mark.
Tips: THE KING OF MAY & JELSKI
