Cheltenham Win 6 Preview | 13th March
13.20pm – Ryanair Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle
JUBILEE ALPHA is going from strength to strength, winning her last two starts, and although this is tougher, she’s earned her place in the line up and could pose a threat. Gavin Cromwell’s SIXANDAHALF created a deep impression when scoring on her hurdles debut and is a massive contender. GALILEO DAME needs to brush up her jumping but she also has plenty of ability.
Tips: JUBILEE ALPHA, SIXANDAHALF & GALILEO DAME
14.00pm – Jack Richards Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase
I’m very keen on the claims of FIREFOX, who was unlucky when third in last year’s Supreme and has an excellent chance to make amends given how well he has taken to fences. With multiple placed efforts at the highest level, he’s a serious player. ASIAN MASTER was only a place behind him last year and could be well handicapped, so he’s also included on our slip.
Tips: FIREFOX & ASIAN MASTER
14.40pm – Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle
WIN SOME LOSE SOME was a taking winner when stepped up to this trip last time out at Leopardstown and should be extremely competitive with more to come. HARBOUR LAKE has been kept fresh for the race and is an outsider to consider, while the hat trick-seeking pair WILL THE WISE and SUPER SURVIVOR could also have a say in the outcome.
Tips: WIN SOME LOSE SOME, HARBOUR LAKE, WILL THE WISE & SUPER SURVIVOR
15.20pm – Ryanair Chase
If FACT TO FILE can reproduce his win in the John Durkan then he would have solid claims, but I didn’t like how he finished his race last time out and he will do well to overhaul II EST FRANCAIS if the French raider can let rip at these fences. Last year’s winner PROTEKTORAT cannot be overlooked either on the back of a decisive win last time out. All three are in equal ratings, so hopefully we get a great race!
Tips: FACT TO FILE, II EST FRANCAIS & PROTEKTORAT
16.00pm – Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle
HOME BY THE LEE couldn’t be in better form and although he’s seen the backend of TEAHUPOO on a few occasions, including in this race last year, I’m expecting him to give the defending champion a lot to think about. Both of them go on my ticket alongside BOB OLINGER, who has a great record at this venue and cannot be taken lightly.
Tips: HOME BY THE LEE, TEAHUPOO & BOB OLINGER
16.40pm – TrustATrader Plate Handicap Chase
It is interesting to see Ben Jones ride PERSONAL AMBITION over last year’s winner for the Ben Pauling team. This horse looks so well handicapped given he would have won a Grade 2 on his penultimate start without a mistake at the final fence and beat subsequent Arkle winner Jango Baie over hurdles last season. If his jumping can stand the test, I’m confident he will go close. The improving JAGWAR is played as cover.
Tips: PERSONAL AMBITION & JAGWAR
