VEBLEN GOOD should be able to take a step forward from his promising debut second at Sandown and potentially go one better, while Richard Fahey’s BONNIE’S BOY has hit the woodwork in three of his four starts and is feared most. These are the two to concentrate on.

The Charlie Fellowes-trained MESAAFI caught the eye with a third-place finish here last time out and must be thereabouts. As an alternative, PALS BATTALION will find this easier than the race he competed in last time out at Ayr and has the form in the book to play a leading role.

EVOCATIVE SPARK’s losing run is mounting up, but he’s 6lb below his last winning mark and has placed numerous times since that win off higher marks in better-quality events. He can make a bold bid, while the well-handicapped NOVAK is another to throw into the mix.

BAILEYS WARRIOR is by far the most consistent of this bunch, and she absolutely battered her rivals when successful over C&D last time. Off only a 3lb higher mark, she should take all of the beating in this contest.

It could pay to take a chance on BEAMING LIGHT, who surely has more to offer in the handicap ranks and has a squeak in what is a poor turnout. FOREVER PROUD is 1lb lower than when she last got her head in front and is selected as a backup option to the former.
