York Place 6 preview | 29th July

14.05 – Sky Bet ‘Jump Jockeys’ Nunthorpe’ Handicap – 5f

This is extremely competitive. However, SHOWALONG scored for the first time in more than two years in May and while his last couple of efforts have been disappointing, he was fourth over C&D last year in a much stronger event. That was off a 12Ib higher mark and connections have appointed Daryl Jacob to ride here. He could easily hit the frame if he runs to his best.

Tips: SHOWALONG

14.40 – Sky Bet Dash Handicap – 6f

MAGICAL SPIRIT was below form on the all-weather last time but went close over C&D the time before that off a pound higher mark and is better off at the weights in this contest. He is only 2Ib above his last winning mark and has the ammunition to run another big race back on the Knavesmire.

Tips: MAGICAL SPIRIT

15.15 – Sky Bet York Stakes – 1m2f

This is a good opportunity for MY PROSPERO to get back to winning ways. His third in the Champion Stakes last year is still the best form in the field and while he could only finish fourth in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes last time, he is still clear of these on ratings. Tom Marquand specifically comes here to ride him and, with track, trip and conditions to suit, he will be difficult to topple. CHECKANDCHALLENGE is played as cover.

Tips: MY PROSPERO, CHECKANDCHALLENGE

16.00 – 50K ITV7 Weekly Jackpot Nursery – 6f

I have followed GANESHA in each of his starts, who has won two of his four starts and after a good eighth in the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot, he finished a good third at Carlisle before scoring at Hamilton last-time-out. This longer distance could bring about improvement, so he is taken to make it three wins from five starts.

Tips: GANESHA

16.35 – Sky Bet Prize Drop Handicap – 2m

GOLDEN SHOT should take plenty of beating, who is eligible to compete off the same mark as when winning at Ayr. He is three-from-four in handicaps and would have won two starts ago over this trip with a clear run, a race he finished second in. Connections are keen to turn him out quickly, so he gets the vote to continue his progress.

Tips: GOLDEN SHOT

17.10 – Betting Better With Sky Bet Handicap – 1m3f

GASTRONOMY has been solid in defeat in all of his starts without success and has predominantly been strong at the finish in each of those events. His fourth over C&D two weeks ago was good and he is better off at the weights with the winner in this contest, so expect him to bridge the gap and potentially gain a first success.

Tips: GASTRONOMY
