Wetherby Place 6 betting preview | October 29th

13.50 – bet365 Novices’ Hurdle – 2m3f

AUTUMN RETURN is two-from-two under rules and won with a lot to spare on hurdles debut last time. He recorded a good time figure that day and is open to lots more improvement, so he’s a leading player. MACAVITY showed a lot of qualities to make a winning rules debut at Aintree and should be suited to this longer distance on hurdles debut. I cannot see why neither of these can’t go close here.

Selections: Autumn Return, Macavity

14.25 – bet365 Mares’ Hurdle – 2m

Molly Ollys Wishes won this last year but this year’s line-up looks harder and it’s possible MARTELLO SKY will beat her this time round. She’s three-from-three when fresh and wasn’t disgraced when seventh at the Cheltenham Festival last time. I think she’ll be fine back over this shorter distance and has excellent claims under the assistance of Bryony Frost. NINA THE TERRIER has a bit to find with her main rivals but she’s fit, has plenty of graded form to her name and should get a good pace to aim at. Alan King’s consistent mare isn’t out of this.

Selections: Martello Sky, Nina The Terrier

15.00 – bet365 Hurdle (Grade 2) – 3m

OSCAR ELITE ran a stinker at Aintree last time but his previous third in the Ultima is smart form and the last time he ran over hurdles he finished third in a pair of Grade 1 events. He’s undergone wind surgery since last time and may have won on his return last year at Cheltenham on chase debut without falling at the third last when going well. He has a chance despite his odds trying to suggest otherwise. INDEFATIGABLE won this race very nicely twelve months ago in which she had Paisley Park well held in third and she’s fit from the Flat. She should make a bold bid to defend her title.

Selections: Oscar Elite, Indefatigable

15.35 – bet365 Charlie Hall Chase – 3m

I am going to take a chance on Paul Nicholls’ other runner SECRET INVESTOR, who is only rated three pounds lower than both Ahoy Senor and Bravemansgame but gets three pounds from both those rivals. He has been off the track for a while but the champion trainer is likely to have him fully prepped for his return and he did win on his return at Chepstow two years ago so he’s capable fresh. His second to Native River in the Denman Chase is good form and if Bryony Frost can get him into a good rhythm, he could surprise a few at large odds.

Selections: Secret Investor

16.10 – bet365 Handicap Chase – 2m3f

MONGOL EMPEROR won back-to-back events last year and was last seen running well to finish fourth at Cheltenham in a decent race. He makes his chase debut/reappearance off top-weight but he’s progressive and could advance his form at the first time of asking in this sphere here.

Selections: Mongol Emperor, Deyrann De Carjac

16.45 – Bet Boost At bet365 Handicap Chase – 3m

INDIAN BRAVE was in great form back in 2019/20, in which he made the frame three times as well as winning force. He proved he retains a lot of his ability when second at this course in March and must have a good chance off the same mark here.

Selections: Indian Brave
