WOODLAND PARK ran another solid race when third at Leicester last time out and this dual winner should be able to reverse form with the reopposing runner-up. Olly Murphy’s charge is up in grade, but is open to improvement and can prove difficult to beat in the opener.

SUPERIOR GLANCE has performed well on all three starts since going handicapping and have it a good go when third under testing conditions at Hexham last time out. Off only a pound higher mark, with more to come, she could prove capable of getting off the mark this time.

FIRM BUT FAIR produced a good effort when second at Bangor last month and must enter calculations with the likelihood of plenty more to come. LON CHANEY also only found one too good when last seen and this stiffer test of stamina should be right up his street.

14.13 Malcolm Harrison Handicap Hurdle

This race has a wide-open feel to it, so a chance is taken on CHURCHMAN. He shaped well after an absence to finish third at Ludlow and should be able to take a step forward. He’s very well handicapped based on previous form off higher marks, so it would come as no surprise to see him be thereabouts.

TICK IN THE BOX normally competes at a higher level than this and the six-year-old makes the most appeal to me. His record in this grade or lower over timber (hurdles) reads 1121 and he went close to scoring off a 5lb higher mark in May. Off top-weight, I think he has serious claims of making his class count on just his third start in this sphere.

With fitness on her side, FORTUNEFAVORSDBOLD looks the answer to this event. Christian Williams’ representative has been largely consistent this year and should be fitter after her comeback second over C&D last month. In addition, she is 12lb lower than when she last got her head in front.
