Uttoxeter Place 6 Preview | 17th October

13.47 QuinnBet Daily Free Bet ‘Chasing Excellence’ Beginners’ Chase

Just the two runners in the opener but LAURENS BAY can get the better of Dartan. He came from well off the pace to land the EBF Final at Sandown when last seen and looks every inch a chaser. His rival is rated 6lb higher but I reckon that mark is inflated, so Gavin Sheehan’s mount gets the vote.

Tips: LAURENS BAY

STORMING GEORGE, who could be one to follow for the rest of the season. He was a commanding winner first time out at Doncaster before running really well to finish fifth in a Grade 2 bumper at Aintree. There’s no reason why he can’t advance his form now tackling the obstacles.

Tips: STORMING GEORGE

MIKHAILOVICH bolted up at Market Rasen in June of last year and made a pleasing comeback when runner-up at Worcester back in August over hurdles. The eight-year-old is sure to have come on for the run and I fancy him to go one place better back over fences.

Tips: MIKHAILOVICH

15.32 Bagley & Rylance 80th Celebration Handicap Hurdle

In spite of conceding match fitness, I really like the claims of LOOKAWAY, who has undergone wind surgery since last seen and has every chance of making it 4/4 at his beloved Midlands venue. This Grade 1 runner-up hasn’t done much wrong during his career and was last seen running well to finish third in the Grade 2 Arkle Trial at Cheltenham.

Tips: LOOKAWAY

16.07 Eaton Hall Shooting Ground Handicap Chase

Despite unseating his rider late on, DOG FOX made a promising chase debut at Kelso. He was just moving into contention before making a mistake at the second last fence. It was too early to tell if he would have won but he was just about going strongest of all and that was a hot race. The five-year-old has been left on the same mark and won over C&D back in July, so track experience is ticked.

Tips: DOG FOX

CUBAN COURT was in seriously good form when last seen, winning his last two starts and could continue where he left off on his return. The seven-year-old is only 5lb higher than when he won by seven lengths last time out, so if he’s fit enough, I see no reason why he cannot complete the hat-trick.

Tips: CUBAN COURT
