Taunton Place 6 Preview | 8th January
13.00 17 January Saturday Meeting Novices’ Hurdle
BRIGHT LEGEND could be the way to go in the opener. Emma Lavelle’s inmate has bags of experience in this sphere and ran a reasonable race when third on his return. With that run in his locker, this is a good opportunity for him to open his account in this sphere.
Tips: BRIGHT LEGEND
13.30 3 February Sporting Clubs Day Maiden Hurdle
CONSTANTINIAN wasn’t able to lay a glove on an outsider at Hereford last time out but there’s no doubt he’s better than that. I’m hopeful that this bumper winner will be a stronger proposition this time and is fancied to go one place better.
Tips: CONSTANTINIAN
14.00 3 February Sporting Clubs Day Maiden Hurdle
The Paul Nicholls-trained POURQUOI PAS PAPA is undoubtedly the one to beat. He’s finished second on both starts, including on stable/UK debut at Sandown and this is by far a much easier assignment. With plenty of improvement to come, Harry Cobden shouldn’t have a difficult time in guiding him to success.
Tips: POURQUOI PAS PAPA
14.30 12 February Valentines Meeting Novices’ Handicap Chase
Alan King’s IRISH CHORUS took a significant step forward from her chase debut to get the better of an odds-on favourite at Leicester and the handicapper has only raised her mark by a couple of pounds. She should be able to maintain her progress and double her tally over timber.
Tips: IRISH CHORUS
15.00 26 February Landlord’s Raceday Handicap Hurdle
This is the most competitive race on the card and I really like AMERICAN SNIPER. He has mostly been competing in stronger events and was a decent second over C&D last month. He won a much stronger event in November of 2024 at Newbury off only a pound higher mark and is a confident choice to run well with his rider taking off a handy 7lb.
Tips: AMERICAN SNIPER
15.30 Geoffrey Bosley ‘Tally Ho’ Open Hunters’ Chase
I’ll be disappointed if UNEXPECTED PARTY can’t make good use of this chance. The 11-year-old is much the best of these and it was only back in March that he went close at the Cheltenham Festival. He ran poorly at Kelso when last seen but he can get back on track and put his rivals to the sword.
Tips: UNEXPECTED PARTY
