Southwell Place 6 preview | 25th July

14.45 – Vickers.Bet App Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase – 1m7f

AL ZARAQAAN was formerly a class act on the Flat, rated as high as 105, and having won four times over hurdles last season, he has advanced his form over fences. Unbeaten in three starts in this sphere and having landed a stronger race at Uttoxeter earlier this month, he could easily make it two-from-two over C&D with more to come. IMPULSIVE ONE was the best of these over hurdles though and could win this on just his second start for Brian Ellison on his chase debut, while VALENTINO DANCER could also play a leading role on his chase debut.

Tips: Al Zaraqaan, Impulsive One, Valentino Dancer

15.20 – Good Luck Dads Matt & Jack Handicap Chase – 2m4f

Nicky Henderson’s SWAPPED is already a better chaser than a hurdler and after running well when second on his chase debut, he comfortably went one better at Worcester last month. He is up 5Ib but is the one to beat in a race where hardly any strong cases can be made for the remainder. He is a standout choice to double his tally over timber.

Tips: Swapped

15.55 – signsolutions.org Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle  – 2m4f

Harry Fry’s MA BELLE NOIRE is very consistent and capitalised on a good opportunity to open her account over hurdles in first-time blinkers just over two weeks ago. She has to anchor a penalty in this contest but she is partnered by Harry Cobden and will be hard to beat if able to replicate that latest winning performance.

Tips: Ma Belle Noire

16.25 – Vickers.Bet App Handicap Hurdle – 1m7f

OUR SCHOLAR has landed maiden/novice hurdles at Warwick and Uttoxeter in recent months and an opening mark of 118 ahead of his handicap debut is lenient given he had a bit to spare in beating a 115-rated horse when last seen. He could complete the hat-trick, while SACCHOANDVANZETTI looks fairly well-treated on his stable debut and should be thereabouts.

Tips: Our Scholar, Sacchoandvanzetti

17.00 – sponsorshipbranding At signsolutions.org Novices’ Handicap Hurdle – 3m

IMPERIAL DATA has finished runner-up in both starts over hurdles and should come into his own now stepping up in distance whilst on a nice opening mark of 103. The six-year-old should relish this test of stamina on the evidence of his two starts to date and is fancied to take the scalp of Basford who might not be as well suited to the extra yardage.

Tips: Imperial Data

17.30 – Golf At Southwell Handicap Hurdle – 2m4f

GAME BEAAA arrives here in good form after two solid fourth place finishes the last two times, including over C&D last time and her mark has essentially been eased a pound. COCONUT TWIST is another in-form participant, who has finished second in all four starts this year and the horse he was behind last time has won again since to boost the form. He should at least make the frame once more.

Tips: Game Beaaa, Coconut Twist
