Southwell Place 6 preview | 12th June
14.15 – Royal Ascot On Sky Sports Racing Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase – 1m7f
The tactics will be interesting in the opener given only three compete. DONNIE AZOFF, a hurdles winner at Taunton, ran well on his chase debut when second and should be in the firing line, though AL ZARAQAAN is the highest-rated of these and impressed in winning on his chase debut at Cartmel. He is the one to beat but don’t rule out STEPNEY CAUSEWAY either, who wasn’t beaten far last time and gets weight from the other pair.
Tips: Donnie Azoff, Al Zaraqaan, Stepney Causeway
14.45 – Join Southwell Golf Club Handicap Chase – 3m
PRINCE CLENI improved out of all recognition to finish second at Uttoxeter when last spotted and from only a 3Ib higher mark with a tongue strap fitted, he could go one better. SHAR WHAT’S THERUSH hasn’t been seen for a while but he is still the highest-rated horse in the field and his stable knows how to ready one, so the ten-year-old cannot be taken lightly here.
Tips: Prince Cleni, Shar What’s Therush
15.15 – Download Fitzdares For Free Race Streaming Handicap Chase – 1m7f
FIRST ANGEL cruised to success on stable debut at Stratford and although he is 6Ib higher for this race, he could follow-up with plenty more to offer now after just five chase starts to date. MADIBA PASSION gained a first success just under three weeks by 37 lengths and the second has advertised the form since by scoring easily himself. If in similar form, he shouldn’t be far away either.
Tips: First Angel, Madiba Passion
15.45 – Royal Ascot Form Study On attheraces.com Maiden Hurdle – 2m4f
SHANDANCER has been a model of consistency of late, placing in his last four starts and his mark has been left unaltered after his second at Stratford last-time-out. He’s got a chance, though FADED FANTASY has made the frame in his last two starts over hurdles despite making mistakes and should again go well despite stepping up in distance.
Tips: Shandancer, Faded Fantasy
16.15 – Royal Ascot Tips On attheraces.com Mares’ Handicap Hurdle – 2m4f
MIDNIGHT GOLD didn’t win in eight attempts over hurdles but came very close to scoring last month at Fontwell when only beaten a neck and could go one better with Harry Cobden booked to ride. MRS KINSELLA was caught close to home by the re-opposing Faerie Cutlass at Worcester but could reverse the form here as there isn’t a lot to separate them.
Tips: Midnight Gold, Mrs Kinsella
16.50 – Play With The Finest Bookmaker, Fitzdares Novices’ Handicap Hurdle – 1m7f
NADIM has improved with each start and ran well on handicap debut at Stratford when second. A 3Ib higher mark does make his task harder but he’s going the right way and has a chance. TONTO FOLEY ran poorly last time but should get back on track now faced with better ground.
Tips: Nadim, Tonto Foley
