Sandown Place 6 Preview | 28th May
17.10 Star Sports Handicap
OUR CODY will improve for the run but she’s markedly down in grade for her reappearance and must be considered a contender. THE LOST SOCK is another with his sights lowered and could have a part to play, while AKIRRA has a chance given how well his jockey and rider do when teaming up.
Tips: OUR CODY, THE LOST SOCK & AKIRRA
17.42 Star Sports National Stakes (Listed)
NAPA beat multiple subsequent winners when scoring at Newmarket last time out and must enter the mix with so much more to come. I did like the way WHERE LOVE LIVES got the job done on debut at Thirsk though and is of interest stepping up in class. He could be competitive.
Tips: NAPA & WHERE LOVE LIVES
18.12 Star Sports Henry II Stakes (Group 3)
Come on, SWEET WILLIAM! One of my favourite horses in training and he must have excellent claims. This top-class, highly-consistent stayer won this race two years ago and has placed several times at the highest level. He battled to victory on his return in the Sagaro when last seen and last year’s Doncaster Cup winner is fancied to make his class count.
Tips: SWEET WILLIAM
18.42 Star Sports Heron Stakes (Listed)
TALK OF NEW YORK made it two wins from three starts with a comfortable win at Newmarket last time out and could prove hard to beat but YAZIN has won his last three outings and is a major player under Ryan Moore. Of the remainder, perhaps the consistent ANDAB can get involved.
Tips: TALK OF NEW YORK, YAZIN & ANDAB
19.12 Star Sports Brigadier Gerard Stakes (Group 3)
OMBUDSMAN is undoubtedly one of the best horses we have seen in a long time and made a sparkling return in a Group 1 in Meydan when last seen. This multiple top-level winner is set for another massive season and is strongly fancied to concede 7lb to his opposition before returning to the highest level. He is by far the class act and should be too good for these.
Tips: OMBUDSMAN
19.45 starsports.bet Whitsun Cup Handicap
The unbeaten RAAMMEE made the most of an easy opportunity when last seen and will make his seasonal/handicap debut off what could be a nice mark of 95. It’ll be interesting to see how he gets on, while NOSTRUM is sure to appreciate the drop in grade off his reduced mark and could be a big player at much bigger odds. He was a classy horse in his prime and could run well.
Tips: RAAMMEE & NOSTRUM
