Sandown Place 6 Preview | 16th September
13.45 Trainor Stone & Tile Marble Handicap
A chance is taken on GOOD EARTH. He is back down to his last winning mark and this C&D winner caught the eye under a big weight when fourth here last time out. Despite his advancing years, the nine-year-old has the form and ability to have a major say in the outcome.
Tips: GOOD EARTH
14.20 Trainor Stone & Tile Novice Stakes
ALTIUS could land this event. Charlie Appleby has hit a purple patch with his squad, with four winners from his last six runners at the time of writing this piece. This fantastically-bred newcomer can enhance the fine recent strike-rate for connections.
Tips: ALTIUS
14.55 Trainor Stone & Tile EBF Maiden Stakes
This is undoubtedly a difficult race to solve but newcomer CALDO represents a handler and jockey having a tremendous season and this debutant looks the part on paper. Hopefully this son of Nathaniel can produce a big effort first time out.
Tips: CALDO
15.30 Trainor Stone & Tile Fortune Stakes (Listed)
I quite like the claims of CENTIGRADE, who despite being beaten on handicap debut at York last month, retains potential. He wasn’t disgraced in finishing sixth and must surely have more to come. His handler has also won this race in recent time, so there’s plenty to like.
Tips: CENTIGRADE
16.05 Inkerman Fillies’ Handicap
Plenty in with a chance. However, WITHTEARSINMYEYES has been really consistent to date, placing on her first four starts before getting off the mark in good style at Ffos Las. This is more difficult, but she’s going the right way, and ought to be heavily competitive.
Tips: WITHTEARSINMYEYES
16.40 Trainor Stone & Tile Handicap
The one that appeals the most to me is SAXOPHONIST. He has been unfortunate to not have won at least one of his last couple of starts and came within a neck of success at Haydock when last seen. Off the same mark, David O’Meara’s participant should be in the mix.
Tips: SAXOPHONIST
