Salisbury Place 6 Preview | 14th August

14.20 Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Apprentice Handicap

AMATHUS has a good record at this venue and came from off the pace to score over track and trip three weeks ago. He should have won even easier with a clear run, so his effort can be upgraded. This race does look a bit tougher but the eight-year-old is still well handicapped on historical form and should go well.

Tips: AMATHUS

14.50 Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai British EBF Restricted Maiden Fillies’ Stakes

The experience of Box Clever should count for plenty in this event, but ELEANOR SHELBY was an eye-catcher when seventh on debut at Newbury considering everything went wrong for her and connections have booked Billy Loughnane to ride. I can envisage Brian Meehan’s filly running a big race if things work out better.

Tips: BOX CLEVER & ELEANOR SHELBY

15.25 Sorvio Insurance Brokers Novice Stakes

C&D debut winner Aspull is respected but conceding weight to MERAPI might end up proving to be a daunting task. Ed Walker’s filly has displayed promise on both of her starts and should be able to pose a serious threat.

Tips: MERAPI

16.00 Tattersalls 40,000 EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes

The George Boughey-trained RADIANCE looked above-average when scoring on debut at Yarmouth and this Group 1 Fillies’ Mile entry is clearly well thought of by her handler. Open to considerable improvement under Billy Loughnane, it would come as a surprise to see her beaten unless one of the newcomers turn out to be special.

Tips: RADIANCE

16.35 British EBF Premier Fillies’ Handicap

THANKYOU BARONESS made the perfect start in handicaps last time out and surely has more to give. This filly has shown promise on her three previous starts, including when fourth at Goodwood on her penultimate outing, and given how impressive she was last time out, I fancy her to give the favourite the most to think about.

Tips: THANKYOU BARONESS

17.10 Venture Security Handicap

SKIBO’s debut third has worked out well, as that race has produced subsequent winners and others that have placed off higher marks since. He backed that up with another solid third-place finish in a warm race at Goodwood and ran well when runner-up on handicap debut over C&D last month. I think he’s ready to open his account for Ralph Beckett.

Tips: SKIBO
