Romford betting tips: Wall Garden should prove impossible to get past

Syndicate Captain Cheltmental takes on the £15,000 Win 8 at Romford on Friday night. He reckons that Wall Garden has a fantastic chance in the opening race. If you agree with his selections, then join his Syndicate.

Cheltmental: An all open race card from Romford really does appeal as an early Christmas present, and while we’re yet to land a Win 8 pool yet, I’ve knocked on the door so many times that they’ll have to give me the key soon enough. That night could be tonight!

Sprint race to kick things off and it’s a fair standard but you’d have to strongly fancy WALL GARDEN in 6 to get the job done. He was beaten favourite when seen at the end of November but has had some time off since, and moved very well in recent trial.

He also looks to have a plum draw. Recent winner SAVANA POPPY will need some luck to reach the bend and secure a clear run now drawn in Trap 3 and puppy BALLYDORGAN DES in 4 will be looking to reverse placings with her this time round. He’s also drawn wider than his preference which put even more of a shine on WALL GARDEN as the most likely winner.

SILVA HILL looks well drawn for this heat and if putting his best foot forward early he could force a lead. He’ll likely need some trouble behind to actually win this whereas SIGNATURE CALLUM would take some stopping if clearly any bumping at the first.

Trap 3, KILMESSAN PUMA, would be the fastest runner to the bend on times but that might result in trouble more than a clear pointer that he will lead this field. In a trappy enough looking heat I’d look for some cover here.

I’d be most interested in the book ends here of 1 and 6 as I think they are a few lengths clear of this field. BUBBLY BUSTER in 1 is drawn inside of another runner bless with loads of early but being closer to the rail reduces and real concerns for him.

PORTMAGEEWISEGUY on the wide outside is blessed with trapping boots and early pace so I’d expect him to lead at the bend and he’ll take some pegging back.

Selections – 1, 6

The inside traps looks to hold the key here but it’s TIFFIELD BLUEBOY in 1 who looks the one to beat providing he can get round that first bend. He paces well to the bend and with Trap 3 and 4 likely to bump on the run up it’s only Trap 2 I fear he’ll have to clear.

PIEMANS STAR trialled well a few days ago and on the clock in more than capable of this. He is blessed with all round speed but I do think 1 will be first run on him which could be crucial.

BUBBLY SPARK & NOT SO LENTO can both be hit and miss from the lids but if either put in a quick start they could take advantage of that likely bumping from 3 and 4 and with 1 and 2 also likely to reach the bend together, they could get a free run out wide.

Selections – 1, 2, 5, 6

This Maiden wouldn’t look the best I’ve seen here. PERNERA REBEL in 3 struggles when unable to secure a clean run.

Recent form leaves plenty to be desired too, but he is quick enough to play a major role in this and looks worth adding to the ticket. It’s actually the puppy in Trap 4, IVE GOT GEARS, who I think could be the answer. His trial here in October would need to be improved upon but he might be able to skip clear of this field and with his middle pace and likely progression he also has to be on the slip.

Trap 1 KAHUNA DORA might just be a bit more solid than the pair mentioned although she really can’t afford to be slow at trap rise, but even a level start from her would mean she’s in with a chance.

Selections – 1, 3, 4

This winner of one Open Race is essentially the next step up from a Maiden but typically it can contain some smart types and BUBBLY PUMA looks to be just that.

The major concern here though is the draw as traps 1,2,3 & 4 all want the rails and with 4 being one of the better runners at trap rise, I can’t see anything other than bumping on the run up. If we could guarantee a clear run for Trap 3 I’d have no doubt he’d win but it’s likely he will find trouble.

HEADFORD DANNY in 2 is another runner who is capable on the clock but like BUBBLY PUMA, he is probably better over further. BALLYMAC ALBA on the wide outside trialled really well here back in October but has failed to live up to that promise.

If she comes away as well as she can then she might skip round the outer but SAVANA VODKA in 5 is also a fair trapper on her day although I’d fancy she has less early than the 6 dog.

Selection – 2, 3, 4, 6

20:06 – OR – 575M

This penultimate leg is the first of our stayers races and it looks a competitive enough affair. Much like the last leg, however, I feel that is BRINKLEY POET in Trap 2 could be assured a clear run he would take some stopping.

For me the battle on the inside looks critical here with DROOPYS AOIFE my main danger and it’s likely that she could show enough early to get round the first couple in front and then it’s game on. If they avoid each other early they will battle out the finish. If they don’t, I’d expect whoever gets round in front out of 5 or 6 to take a messy race.

Selection – 2

20:21 – OR – 575M

This looks a good heat and a wide open one but I’m inclined to side with SAVANA ME DADDY and RACK ITUP TURBO in the outside boxes.

The latter looks to have a chance of prominence early but SAVANA ME DADDY picked him up when they last met round here so is a clear danger, especially if showing more from lid rise than normal.

ALIEN SEA would have a chance if securing a clear run and either OUR LUCKY FOOL or PERRYS CHOICE are capable if able to lead.

Selections – 5, 6
