1/ Raheem Sterling

(Last week: 1)

Allowed a bit of a rest against Everton but came on with a third of the match to go and found the back of the net just three minutes later! With his head! The City star now has the same number of Premier League goals (9) this season as Harry Kane while he’s weighed in with six assists. City have suffered some key injuries this season but Sterling’s continued excellence has lessened the blow.

2/ Virgil Van Dijk

(Last week: 2)

Another week to remember for Liverpool and, once more, Van Dijk was at the heart of it. While the Reds have shuffled their defence around due to rotation or injury, the Dutchman has been a constant, spreading calm and quality. VVD played a big part in Liverpool getting the 1-0 win they needed over Napoli to ensure qualification for the last 16 of the Champions League and then strolled his way through the 3-1 victory over Man Utd.

3/ Eden Hazard

(Last week: 5)

He’s back! The star of the early season had dipped a little and suffered a frustrating goal drought. But he set up Pedro’s opener at Brighton with a superb pass and then ran from the halfway line to slot home what proved to be Chelsea’s winner. That was his eighth Premier League strike of the season but first since early October while he leads the assists charts with nine.

4/ Mo Salah

(Last week: 4)

After slotting home the winner against Napoli in midweek, Salah couldn’t find his first ever goal v Manchester United but still played his part. The joint-top scorer in the Premier League and has 13 in total when adding in his Euro goals. Not bad really, even if many can’t stop comparing it to the ludicrous numbers of last season.

5/ David Silva

(Last week: 3)

Picked up a knock at Chelsea last week so currently sidelined. I’ll drop him a couple of spots but let’s not forget the joy he’s bought so far this season. The hard numbers are eight goals and three assists in all comps while he’s been an integral part of City’s mesmerising attack.

6/ Harry Kane

(Last week: 7)

Not quite his week but played a key part in Tottenham’s crucial 1-1 draw in Barcelona which sent them through to the last 16 of the Champions League, set up the injury-time winner for Christian Eriksen in the 1-0 win over Burnley and finished third at the Sports Personality of the Year awards. The World Cup Golden Boot winner is tied third in the PL scoring charts with nine.

7/ Leroy Sane

(Last week: 10)

Getting regular starts for City these days and is rewarding Pep’s faith with displays full of key moments and impact. His latest contributions came in the 3-1 win over Everton, the German winger laying on both goals for Gabriel Jesus. Sane now has seven assists (joint second) and six goals in the Premier League this season from just 10 starts and five appearances as sub.

8/ Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

(Last week: 6)

I have to have the Premier League’s top scorer in my top 10 still even if he’s fired blanks in the last three matches. Beyond his 10 goals (level with Mo Salah at the top), Aubameyang has also contributed three assists so he’d played a key part in Arsenal’s long unbeaten run which ended at Southampton.

9/ Sadio Mane

(Last week: N/A)

Part of the reason why Man Utd called time on Jose Mourinho. Mane blasted home the first in Sunday’s 3-1 win after controlling the ball on his chest and lashing home while he put Ander Herrera on his backside before setting up Liverpool’s second. The Senegalese star has netted seven Premier League goals and been one of the Reds’ most consistent performers in their best-ever start to a PL season.

10/ Callum Wilson

(Last week: 8)

It’s gone a bit wrong for Bournemouth in recent weeks but Wilson has still managed to net in two of his last three Premier League games and has eight goals and five assists so far. An honourable mention too for teammate Ryan Fraser (four goals and seven assists), who has been hovering just outside the top 10 all season.
