City’s midfield magician isn’t just creating and setting the tempo, he’s scoring goals too. Strikes against Southampton and Shakhtar made it three goals in four games and he has six in 14 outings this season.
4/ Virgil van Dijk
(Last week: 2)
Still the bedrock of a Liverpool defence which has conceded just five goals in the opening 11 Premier League games. The Merseysiders had shipped 17 at the same stage last season.
5/ Sergio Aguero
(Last week: 6)
The Premier League’s joint top scorer with seven goals, his latest helping City hit six against Southampton. He’s not a one-trick pony though as revealed by the stats which show him ranked fourth in Premier League assists this season with four.
6/ Callum Wilson
(Last week: 7)
Many now suggesting an England call-up for Wilson, who took his goal count to six in 11 games – just one behind the Golden Boot race leaders – with a calm finish against Manchester United. He has four assists too, helping Bournemouth into the top six.
7/ Harry Kane
(Last week: N/A)
Harry’s back in the top 10 after an excellent week – a goal in the 3-2 win at Wolves and a brace in the 2-1 victory over PSV in the Champions League. That’s put him in double figures for the season from just 15 games for Spurs.
8/ Mo Salah
(Last week: 8)
He’s not the same player as last season is the cry. But five Premier League goals, two more in the Champions League and three PL assists is still a very healthy return if you rate him on this season’s numbers rather than the off-the-planet numbers from last time.
9/ Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
(Last week: 5)
The Premier League’s joint-top scorer alongside Hazard and Aguero with seven goals. He’s averaging a goal every 110 minutes in the top-flight and only Hazard (99) can better that of the leading marksmen.
10/ Ryan Fraser
(Last week: N/A)
No player has more Premier League assists that Fraser (5) this season and he’s chipped in with three goals too. Part of a vibrant Bournemouth attack which continues to make hay and make the Cherries the surprise package of the season.
