PREVIEWING THE PICK 15

Opening with a blockbuster Premier League match at Stamford Bridge, this week’s Pick 15 is not to be missed!

Alex McMahon offers his thoughts on the £1,600,000 Pick 15.

CHELSEA vs Arsenal

A simple choice. Arsenal’s latest slip-up against Watford was typical Arsenal and I can’t see the Gunners getting back to winning ways at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have a solid record against Arsenal at home and I’m backing the Blues to move one step closer to the title.

Pick: Home win

Watford vs Burnley

A difficult one. Burnley have been very poor away from Turf Moor this season but Watford haven’t exactly inspired confidence for the most part of the campaign. The Hornets will take confidence from that win against Arsenal but a draw could be on the cards.

Pick: Draw

EVERTON vs Bournemouth

Ronald Koeman’s side have stepped up in recent weeks and the Toffees can prosper against struggling Bournemouth. The visitors have won just one of their last seven Premier League outings and it would be foolish to back against Everton at Goodison Park.

Pick: Home win

CARDIFF CITY vs Norwich City

Cardiff should get the job done here. Neil Warnock’s men have won three home games in a row whilst you have to go back to October 1st for Norwich’s last away success. With that in mind, I’m backing a home victory with the draw as an insurance policy.

Pick: Home win OR draw

BIRMINGHAM CITY vs Fulham

Birmingham’s last home win came back in December but I fancy the Blues to reverse that form when Fulham visit St Andrew’s this weekend. The visitors are just three points off the playoffs and I’m expecting Birmingham to put them to the sword here.

Pick: Home win

Burton Albion vs WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS

Wolves will be full of confidence after last weekend’s miraculous win against Liverpool in the FA Cup but they cannot afford to get complacent. Burton Albion have lost five in a row at home and Paul Lambert’s men should have enough to get the job done.

Pick: Draw OR away win

Ipswich vs Reading

Mick McCarthy’s side struggled in January but the hosts will be confident of securing at least a point against Reading at Portman Road. The visitors are flying high in the table but Ipswich can reverse their 2-1 defeat to Jaap Stam’s side in September.

Pick: Draw

Pick 15

NOTTINGHAM FOREST vs Aston Villa

Gary Brazil has done a fine job since stepping in as interim manager and Forest can get the job done against Steve Bruce’s side here. Villa have been a mixed bag this year and no win in their last six matches in all competitions suggests sticking with Forest.

Pick: Home win

BORUSSIA DORTMUND vs RB Leipzig

A tough one. Dortmund aren’t the force that they used to be but not many sides can turn up at Signal Iduna Park and win. Leipzig have the talent to test Thomas Tuchel’s outfit but I’ll be siding with the hosts in what could be a feisty Bundesliga affair.

Pick: Home win OR draw

VALENCIA vs Eibar

Valencia’s form isn’t exactly great but they are due a win and Eibar’s recent struggles could surface again if put under pressure. The visitors have conceded nine goals in their last four games and Valencia could pick them off if they perform well.

Pick: Home win

Huddersfield Town vs LEEDS UNITED

Everything is going Leeds United’s way right now and it would be foolish to go against Garry Monk’s men. Huddersfield played well when beating Brighton in the week but Leeds will be confident of securing three points as they continue to climb the table.

Pick: Away win

Toulouse vs ANGERS

Toulouse have lost their last four without managing to find the net and I’ve opted for a risky away victory here. Angers are just four points behind the hosts and a 2-1 win over Metz in their most recent clash could inspire the visitors to go for the jugular.

Pick: Away win

Chievo vs UDINESE

Both sides got back to winning ways last weekend after a string of defeats but I fancy the visitors to get the better of their opponents here. Their form is very similar but Udinese’s enhanced goal threat should be the difference in a low-scoring contest.

Pick: Away win

NANTES vs Nancy

Nantes had won four in a row before slipping up in their last two contests and I’m going to give the hosts another chance here. Nancy are notoriously poor away from home and that is enough to convince me to side with Nantes to win OR draw.

Pick: Home win OR draw

GRANADA vs Las Palmas

It is impossible to side with Granada here. The hosts are rooted to the bottom of the table and four defeats in their last five games doesn’t exactly inspire hope. Las Palmas got back to winning ways last weekend and I’ll be backing the visitors to record another victory.

Pick: Away win
