Plumpton Place 6 preview | 7th January

12.45 – BetGoodwin Tom Cannon Juvenile Hurdle

THROUGH THE AGES improved significantly from his hurdle debut third to emphatically open his account at Newbury when winning by 15 lengths from the front and is the viable favourite. He will be slim odds, but he should be difficult to beat.

Tips: THROUGH THE AGES

13.15 – BetGoodwin Mike Cattermole Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase

The Gary Moore-trained AUTHORISED SPEED would have made an impressive winning chase debut at Ascot but for falling at the second last fence. The assessor has only put him up 2Ib, though, and soft ground won’t inconvenience him, so he’s strongly fancied to make amends.

Tips: AUTHORISED SPEED

13.45 – BetGoodwin Chris Gordon EBF ‘National Hunt’ Novices’ Hurdle

CLASSIC ANTHEM shaped nicely in his first couple of starts over hurdles before scoring on his handicap debut last month. The step-up in trip should suit, and conditions will also be in his favour, so he gets the vote to double his tally in this sphere.

Tips: CLASSIC ANTHEM

14.15 – BetGoodwin Sussex Stayers Handicap Hurdle

CALL ME LORD resumed winning ways at Hereford three weeks ago and has only been raised 1Ib, which seems lenient. He has a liking for soft ground and should go well with Ben Bromley, who claims a valuable 5Ib. ON THE BLIND SIDE has plenty of wins and placed efforts to his name off higher marks and should be thereabouts.

Tips: CALL ME LORD, ON THE BLIND SIDE

14.50 – BetGoodwin Sussex National Handicap Chase

The feature race is the Sussex National, and it is wide-open, to say the least. ICEO MADRIK has offered little for this stable, but he likes this sort of ground, and this might have been the plan for a while. He could be the surprise package for a stable who does well in these types of events, while ROSE OF ARCADIA ran really well when third in a listed race against her own sex at Newbury and has every chance if she stays the distance with conditions to suit.

Tips: ICEO MADRIK, ROSE OF ARCADIA

15.25 – BetGoodwin Hayley Turner Handicap Chase

MORFEE just about prevailed when winning at Taunton, but that win should be a catalyst for further success, so he should make a bold effort in his follow-up bid. BROWN BULLET is 5Ib below her last winning mark and has a good record at this course. She has to go on the shortlist with plenty in her favour.

Tips: MORFEE, BROWN BULLET
