Psychic Player Predicts Four Correct Scores To Scoop £8,876 Prize
One clairvoyant player made a mockery of the £30,000 Correct Score – Pick 4 Pool over the weekend by successfully predicting the results of four featured matches to land themselves a jaw-dropping £8,876 from a £2 stake.
As the first leg of the pool, Norwich vs. QPR, kicked off on Saturday lunchtime, the player had two tickets to cheer on, though each were £1 lines meaning they were playing for half of the £30,000 Jackpot.
The player had selected ‘Other Home Win’, an outcome that required Norwich to score four or more goals against a QPR side who hadn’t conceded that many in a match for eleven games. The Canaries happily obliged though, strolling to a 4-0 victory that eliminated three quarters of the 22,122 tickets that had originally entered the Pool.
The 3PM kick offs were up next, with Newcastle vs. Crystal Palace and Bournemouth vs. Burnley under the microscope.
Seemingly confident of a Burnley victory, the player had chosen the Clarets to win 3-1 or by ‘Other Away Win’ and, sure enough, Ashley Barnes sealed a 3-1 victory for Sean Dyche’s men in the 56th minute to confirm the second win of the ticket.
In the north-east, the player was backing Crystal Palace to put an end to a run of seven straight games without a victory at St. James Park by predicting a 1-0 victory for the Eagles. Newcastle were dominant throughout the match and Palace’s keeper Vicente Guaita was called on to make several fine saves to keep the ticket alive. With ten minutes left the match was finely poised at 0-0 and the ticket was hanging in the balance.
However, any fears were soon allayed as the talismanic Wilfried Zaha was taken out in the Newcastle penalty area by a clumsy foul from DeAndre Yedlin, leaving Stuart Attwell little choice but to point to the spot.
There is nobody in the Premier League at the moment that you’d prefer to have standing over a penalty kick than Palace’s Luka Milivojevic. The Serbian enforcer stepped up and coolly converted his tenth penalty of the season, putting him one behind the all-time record set by another Palace player, Andy Johnson, in the 2004/05 season.
More importantly, it meant that the player had correctly called the first three correct scores in the pool and was relying on Manchester City beating Brighton 1-0 in their FA Cup semi-final clash to secure a substantial windfall.
The prediction seemed conservative with City having scored 17 times in their previous five games and when Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring in the fourth minute, the player must have been fearing the worst.
However, despite going on to have 13 shots on the Brighton goal during 90 minutes in which they boasted 71% possession, miraculously the match ended 1-0. The result secured our player an £8,876 payout for their incredible efforts. Well played!
