NFL £200,000 PICK 7: WEEK 9

We’re not halfway through the regular season and the NFL standings are beginning to take shape. With that in mind, I’m back to tackle the Colossus Bets £200,000 Pick 7 Pool – check out my thoughts on this weekend’s fixtures below.

Philadelphia Eagles @ NEW YORK GIANTS

Philly fell short against the Cowboys last weekend after defeating Minnesota in Week 7 and I’m expecting the Eagles to lose once again on Sunday. Rookie Carson Wentz has been a revelation so far this year but he could struggle to bounce back in this feisty all-NFC East contest.

The Giants have now won back-to-back fixtures after losing three in a row and stud wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr could be back to his brilliant best after struggle to cope with a niggling injury issue. With Beckham, rookie Sterling Shepard and veteran Victor Cruz, New York could run riot…

Selection: New York by 1-6

DALLAS COWBOYS @ Cleveland Browns

Dak Prescott came under scrutiny last weekend but the rookie quarterback stepped up in the second half to fire Dallas to their sixth win of the campaign. Fellow rookie Ezekiel Elliott has been phenomenal out of the backfield and I’m backing the Cowboys to ground out their seventh victory of the season on Sunday.

The Browns are 0-8 on the year and they already look destined to secure the first pick of the 2017 NFL Draft. Injuries have hindered their progress but this Cleveland side needs a lot of work and it was never going to be a quick fix for Hue Jackson. It isn’t going to get any easier against a very confident Cowboys unit…

Selection: Dallas by 7-12

New York Jets @ MIAMI DOLPHINS

The Jets have struggled to inspire confidence this season and it isn’t about to get any easier for Todd Bowles’ side. Cornerback Darrelle Revis has been torched throughout the opening half of the year and quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick just hasn’t managed to move the chains on offense.

Miami have found their feet in recent weeks and running back Jay Ajayi will look to rack up over 200 scrimmage yards for the third game in a row. With both Jarvis Landry and Davante Parker at wide receiver, the Dolphins may have enough options to exploit New York’s troubled secondary…

Selection: Miami by 7-12

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS @ San Francisco 49ers

Drew Brees and co haven’t managed to get things going on the road this season but their fortunes could take a turn for the better at Levi’s Stadium on Sunday. With Tim Hightower and Mark Ingram sharing snaps out of the backfield, the Saints could be set to outscore their rivals.

Carlos Hyde looks set to return from injury and the running back could feat on New Orleans’ suspect defensive front. Chip Kelly has claimed that Colin Kaepernick will continue under center and that should mean a greater chance of victory. Unfortunately for the 49ers, I still think they will fall short against an improving Saints side…

Selection: New Orleans by 7-12

NFL Pick 7

CAROLINA PANTHERS @ Los Angeles Rams

The Panthers finally found their feet last weekend as Jonathan Stewart ran all over the Arizona Cardinals. This week, Cam Newton could be the difference-maker as Carolina look to secure only their third win of the campaign. With Greg Olsen and a competent running game, Newton could feast on this Rams defence.

Jeff Fisher’s side were poor when losing to the Giants in London and it is hard to envision Los Angeles coming up trumps here. Todd Gurley is an elite talent but the Rams star has endured a slow start to the year. With Case Keenum under center, LA’s defence could be on the field for the majority of this clash…

Selection: Carolina by 13-18

Tennessee Titans @ SAN DIEGO CHARGERS

Tennessee are on the verge of something special and their running back duo of DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry could help them to hit new heights. The Titans defence has been much-improved this year and Marcus Mariota’s prowess at quarterback is helping Mike Mularkey’s men to keep things tight.

Meanwhile, the Chargers aren’t out of playoff contention in the AFC West and a victory here could see San Diego close the gap in the division. Quarterback Philip Rivers is an elite talent at the quarterback position and he could lead his injury-struck Chargers to victory in this one…

Selection: San Diego by 1-6

DENVER BRONCOS @ Oakland Raiders

Trevor Siemian has enjoyed plenty of success so far this year and the youngster will have to be at his very best if the Broncos are to topple the current AFC West leaders. Denver’s run game will be crucial in determining the outcome of this contest and Devontae Booker may be set for a huge day on the road.

The Raiders have defied the odds to top the AFC West and a triumph over the defending Super Bowl champions would send shockwaves across the NFL. Derek Carr has been simply sublime this season and Oakland may reach the playoffs if they secure a positive result again this weekend. Unfortunately for the Raiders, I’m backing them to fall just short…

Selection: Denver by 1-6
