Newmarket Place 6 Preview | 16th April

13.50 Betway Handicap

IRON WILL won two of his three starts last season, including an easy win at Beverley when last seen and could be well treated off a mark of 89 on handicap debut. He’s a progressive youngster with a decent chance.

ALBAYDEE has a similar profile, given she improved run-by-run last term and comfortably opened her account at Wolverhampton last time out. She has no weight on her back and has a good deal more to come, so I like her chances off her figure of 83.

Tips: IRON WILL & ALBAYDEE

14.25 Betway Wood Ditton Maiden Stakes

A lot of guesswork involved in this race but the likes of BEMERSYDE and CROWN KNOTT make their racecourse debut for stables that can ready one. IMPIERIOUS is a son of the top-class Palace Pier and could be one to monitor.

Tips: BEMERSYDE, CROWN KNOTT & IMPIERIOUS

15.00 ZYN Abernant Stakes (Group 3)

Plenty worth a second look in this wide-open event. That being said, race-fitness could be crucial, so I’ll take a chance on JASOUR.

I liked his comeback run at Doncaster, and having offer he can mix it at the highest level, Neil Callan might be able to navigate him to victory.

MY MATE ALFIE will be fitter from his return at Doncaster and has a chance based on his form in Ireland. He’s no back-number at big odds.

Tips: JASOUR & MY MATE ALFIE

15.35 Betway Craven Stakes (Group 3)

A cracking line up for the feature race, as none of them can be discounted. HAWK MOUNTAIN improved with each start last term, which culminated with Group 1 success at Doncaster and is the one to beat on his return.

However, HANKELOW won two of his three starts, including a Group 3 C&D success when last seen and must be considered a major player.

Tips: HAWK MOUNTAIN & HANKELOW

16.10 Rossdales Maiden Fillies’ Stakes

HASSALEH left plenty to work on when a keeping-on third on debut at Wolverhampton and should be able to put that experience to good use and go well.

POINTE BLEU represents a yard that does well with newcomers though and this daughter of Blue Point could be potentially smart, so she’s also included.

Tips: HASSALEH & POINTE BLEU

16.45 EBF ‘Confined’ Novice Stakes

This race should turn out to be informative with four unbeaten runners crossing paths. Aidan O’Brien’s AMADEUS MOZART beat a group winner on his sole start last year and could be set for a big season despite his huge absence, while GUILDMASTER looked class when scoring on debut at Kempton and is another to consider.

Tips: AMADEUS MOZART & GUILDMASTER
