Newcastle Place 6 Preview | 3rd March

14.05 Border Minstrel Sunday Lunch Novices’ Limited Handicap Hurdle

GREEN BONNET has placed on two of her four starts and was last seen finishing third at Kelso off this mark. Back from a mini break, she must merit consideration, as it’s hard to make a case for most of the others (all except the selection ran poorly when last seen). Connor McCann can also take 7lb off the seven-year-old.

Tips: GREEN BONNET

14.35 Mini Golf At High Gosforth Park Novices’ Handicap Chase

HUIT REFLETS is having an excellent season, not finishing out of the frame in eight starts and was last seen placing at Sedgefield. He probably has more on his plate now that he’s gradually rising in the handicap but to me he seems like the most solid option to at least place.

Tips: HUIT REFLETS

15.05 Virgin Bet Supports Safe Gambling Novices’ Hurdle

I quite like the claims of SILVER HILL, who struck at the second time of asking over hurdles at Catterick and backed it up with a narrow defeat over the same trick and trip in January. With his stable in a rich vein of form, Gavin Sheehan can guide him to another victory for Jamie Snowden.

Tips: SILVER HILL

15.35 Get Raceday Ready Handicap Hurdle

Narrow preference in this event is for PARISH QUIZ. He hadn’t lived up to previous expectations given his price tag after an Irish point success but was a determined winner over C&D last month. He has more to offer as a stayer and has only been raised 5lb, so he’s fancied to go in again with better to come.

Tips: PARISH QUIZ

16.05 Virgin Bet A Good Bet Handicap Chase

PASSING PLEASURE has raised his game this season, winning both starts in good style, including on chase debut eight days ago. That was a very polished performance and he is open to much more improvement. Despite his big weight, this progressive eight-year-old can land the hat trick.

Tips: PASSING PLEASURE

16.35 High Gosforth Park Golf Club Mares’ NH Flat Race

PEACE BELLE made the perfect start to her career when winning with lots to spare on debut at Hexham and the runner-up has boosted the form since. If she’s ready to go after break, then I see no reason why the five-year-old can’t go very well. She can give Rainbow Tara plenty to think about.

Tips: PEACE BELLE
