Newbury Win 6 Preview | 29th November
11.55 Play Coral ‘Racing-Super-Series’ Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle
CHARISMA CAT won three of her five bumper starts and should have a bright future in this sphere. She could make a serious impact on hurdles debut. CLONDAW PARK has a fantastic pedigree and must be considered, while LA CONQUIERE, who scored at Uttoxeter last month, also has a good chance. Competitive opener.
Tips: CHARISMA CAT, CLONDAW PARK & LA CONQUIERE
12.30 Coral Sir Peter O’Sullevan Memorial Handicap Chase
HUNTERS LEGEND turned in a sound effort when sixth in the Paddy Power Gold Cup on his return a couple of weeks ago and has his sights lowered now. Any further rain would be massively beneficial and I doubt this mark of 128 is his limit. Last year’s winner WISEGUY cannot be dismissed, while PRAIRIE WOLF and SCARFACE also have the form to go well.
Tips: HUNTERS LEGEND, WISEGUY, SCARFACE & PRAIRIE WOLF
13.05 Coral ‘Daily Rewards Shaker’ Novices’ Hurdle
KIWI RUSH shaper with promise when fourth on debut at Sandown before putting that experience to good use when making all at Kelso. He then gave it a good go when marginally denied back there under a penalty and must be of interest on his first go over hurdles following wind surgery. Exeter bumper runner-up WALK TAIL and hurdler debut winner KALKBRENNER also enter the equation.
Tips: KIWI RUSH, WALK TAIL, KALKBRENNER
13.40 ‘Join Coral Bet 10 Get 50’ Handicap Hurdle
The Ben Pauling team have done so well already this season and I’m really liking the claims of PERSONAL AMBITION as they continue in a rich vein of form. He ran a solid race when fourth on his return at Carlisle, leading for a long way before tiring late on and should be all the better for that reappearance off a pound lower mark. I think he’s chucked in off this mark of 130, especially based on his defeat of top-class chaser Jango Baie in a Grade 2 event at Kelso in March last year. LUD’OR and LOVERDOSE are others to note.
Tips: PERSONAL AMBITION, LUD’OR & LOVERDOSE
14.15 Newbury – TUTTI QUANTI
I was disappointed with TUTTI QUANTI on his seasonal/handicap debut at Chepstow but he undoubtedly needed the run and surely better is expected now on a slower surface. He only found one too good on his sole previous course start and must be well handicapped off a mark of 130. INDEMNITY, who finished second to subsequent Greatwood Hurdle winner Alexei, and HOT FUSS, also have leading claims.
Tips: TUTTI QUANTI, INDEMNITY & HOT FUSS
14.55 Coral Gold Cup Handicap Chase
I really like HYLAND. Nicky Henderson’s charge will be raring to go after his comeback run at Cheltenham last month. His second to The Jukebox Man in a Grade 1 at Kempton last December is very strong, while he also gets a massive weight pull from Resplendent Grey, who he previously beat at Cheltenham. BLIZZARD OF OZ has steadily progressed over fences and did well to beat a tough stayer in the shape of Rocky’s Diamond at Wexford last time out. He could be well suited to this large-field and has a chance.
Tips: HYLAND & BLIZZARD OF OZ
15.35 Coral ‘Pipped-At-The-Post’ Payouts Handicap Chase
In the final race on the card, I’m keen on RARE EDITION. Charlie Longsdon’s charge looks very well handicapped off a mark of 134. He handles most ground and ran a lovely race on his reappearance at Kempton when second to the highly-progressive Thistle Ask. The winner has boosted the form since by collecting the Haldon Gold Cup. GENERAL MADRANO and DOYEN DU BAR also enter the mix.
Tips: RARE EDITION, GENERAL MADRANO & DOYEN DU BAR
