Newbury Place 6 Preview | 27th February

14.00 West Berkshire Mencap Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle

OUR DYLAN made it two wins from his last three starts when scoring at Taunton last time out and must be respected despite his career-high figure. KARMA POLICE has displayed promise on all four outings and could be interesting on handicap debut off a mark of 109. A tricky opener.

Tips: OUR DYLAN & KARMA POLICE

14.30 BetVictor Simple Things Juvenile Hurdle

LOVE YOU BACK left plenty to work on when second on hurdles debut at Warwick and must be considered a leading contender if able to build on that promise. CECILIA STAR achieved a good level of form on the Flat and caught the eye on her hurdles bow at Kempton. She can improve and take a hand in the finish.

Tips: LOVE YOU BACK & CECILIA STAR

15.00 OLBG ‘Chasing Excellence’ Novices’ Chase

The drop in grade can see MIAMI MAGIC register a second win in this sphere. He wasn’t disgraced when third in a Grade 1 last time out and will be up against much easier opposition on this occasion. This Grade 1 runner-up is expected to prove difficult to beat.

Tips: MIAMI MAGIC

15.35 BetVictor Watch Weekend Winners ‘National Hunt’ Novices’ Hurdle

Talk To The Man got off the mark at the third time of asking when seeing off an odds-on favourite at Taunton earlier this month. He should go well but marginal preference is for Irish raider THE BIG CLUBMAN, who is eased heavily in grade and only found one too good in a Grade 3 event on his penultimate start.

Tips: THE BIG CLUBMAN

16.08 Highclere Horse Feeds Oataalin Handicap Chase

I really like the chances of PURE CARBON, who has raised his game since going chasing, winning two of his four outings. He might have even won his penultimate start as well if he didn’t unseat his rider early when sent off as the favourite. Off only a 4lb higher mark from when scoring at Musselburgh last time out, Harry Derham’s charge can come out on top again.

Tips: PURE CARBON

16.43 Cheltenham Specials Made Simple At BetVictor Handicap Hurdle

TINY TETLEY has to shoulder top weight but he’s a good little horse when on his game and was an impressive winner when last seen in this grade in this sphere. The eight-year-old is back on the same mark as when narrowly denied in a hotter race at Haydock last May, so a reproduction of that effort would no doubt see him involved. I’ll also play PEACENIK, who ran well when third here last time and is worth an experiment over this longer distance.

Tips: TINY TETLEY & PEACENIK
