Brixson holds obvious claims but I do think he’s vulnerable and the vote goes to ABBEY SCOPE for the Nicky Richards team. He made the perfect start to his career when successful in a Kelso bumper and his stable does well with similar types. He’s fancied to remain unbeaten.

AFTER MANY DAYS was returning from an absence when runner-up Hereford last month and I doubt she will need improve much more to take this weak contest. Off only a 2lb higher mark, a first win could well be on the cards.

LELANT capitalised on a reduced mark when scoring at Hereford six weeks ago, and while he doesn’t appear to be the obvious type to follow-up, Evan Williams’ charge looks well handicapped on last year’s form and should take some beating if in the same sort of form.

This looks competitive with a chance taken on LIHYAN. This consistent seven-year-old is a C&D winner and remains only 2lb higher than when last successful. He ran an eye-catching race when third in a stronger race at Newbury last time out and must go well with a similar display.

14.25 Pertemps Network Bud Booth Mares’ Chase
In the feature Listed race on the card, it’s hard to see past PAGGANE. Faye Bramley’s mare jumped exceptionally well when winning a similar event by an easy nine lengths at Carlisle. A similar showing should see her have too many gears for Marsh Wren, who is likely to need the run. A confident and banker choice.

SEASMOKE bounced back from an underwhelming showing at Warwick to finish third at Stratford last month and connections have booked Gavin Sheehan to ride. In a race that won’t take a lot of winning, this mare should be bang in contention at the business end.
