A close relation to several top-class horses, ORDEROFTHEDAY shaped well in bumpers last season and easily justified short odds on hurdles/seasonal debut at Bangor last month. I fancy him to get the better of market rival Roi Du Risk in the opener.

DJ PETE has placed on four of his last five starts and wasn’t disgraced when second to an odds-on favourite last time out. Off an unchanged mark, in an uninspiring event, the seven-year-old must have a chance of breaking the maiden tag under James Best.

13.12 Carling The UK’s Number One Lager Selling Hurdle

While it’s difficult to be fully confident about any of these, CASA LOUPI does have the back-class and should be too good for these if anywhere near half the horse he was. It’s been a great season so far for his team and it would come as a surprise if he couldn’t make the most of this significant dip in grade.

TWO TO TANGO has been running so well in defeat of late that a first win could be on the cards for him. He put in a solid shift when runner-up over C&D last time out and remains on the same figure, so he’s fancied to go one place better.

14.22 Rekorderlig Premium Swedish Cider Handicap Hurdle

This race looks wide-open, but a chance is taken on SMILE BACK. A bumper winner last December, the youngster ran her best race to date over timber when runner-up over track and trip last month and must be thereabouts off only a pound higher mark. There should be more to come.

14.57 Aspall Cyder Leicestershire Silver Fox Handicap Chase

I was very impressed with the way THE BLUESMAN made a mockery of his opening mark on chase debut at Southwell earlier this month and I think it will take a very good performance from anything else to see his colours lowered. Olly Murphy’s charge is fancied to go in again.
