PREVIEWING THE £2.3M+ MILLIONAIRE

This week, the Millionaire opens with traditional Saturday 3pm kick offs. Finishing with a major Serie A clash on Sunday night, this Millionaire pool isn’t to be missed.

We’ll preview the pool now.

Millwall vs Leicester- Sat, Feb 18 15:00

Millwall now have the opportunity to claim the scalp of the Premier League champions. The Lions are without a defeat from their last eleven games and sit sixth in League One. At home, they have not conceded a goal since late December and have won five of their last six. There is real optimism that Millwall can claim the scalp of the Foxes.

Leicester fans are still yet to see their side score a league goal in 2017. Fortunately, such difficulties have not continued into the FA cup. Ranieri has threatened changes and admitted to favouritism towards last year’s heroes. He knows results need to change now and will welcome the distraction of the cup. With games against Sevilla and Liverpool on the horizon, rotation will likely be on the cards.

This is difficult to predict because it depends on which Leicester side show up. But, Millwall’s home record will see them through this one.

Prediction: 1-0

Huddersfield vs Man City- Sat, Feb 18 15:00

High flying Huddersfield welcome Man City to The John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday. With 11 wins from their last 14 games, the Terriers are in fine form heading into this. David Wagner has transformed them from an average side, to a promotion challenging unit. This will be a free shot at trying to take down one of the biggest teams in English football.

Man City head into this, sitting second in the Premier League. With a plethora of talent at his disposal, Guardiola has many options to rotate. Teenage sensation Gabriel Jesus has been ruled out for a while with a broken metatarsal. City will be wanting to progress in both this and their Champions League tie three days later.

With players such as Bravo and Aguero in reserve, any City side will be a strong outfit. I can’t look past a Man City win here and fancy them to win the cup.

Prediction: 1-3

Empoli vs Lazio- Sat, Feb 18 15:00

Empoli look to increase the gap from 18th place Palermo, when they host Lazio at the weekend. Empoli have seen a resurgence at home, going undefeated in their last four and conceding only one. Before this, they went seven home games without a win. Their 2-0 defeat to Inter last week was unsurprising and shouldn’t rock their revival.

Lazio are sitting sixth in Serie A, coming in off a 1-1 draw with AC Milan on Monday night. Lazio have been inconsistent with four wins, two draws and two defeats from their last eight away. The problem on the road is a poor defence, with only two away clean sheets all season.

Lazio don’t travel well to Empoli, having won one of the last six meetings. Empoli will be happy with a draw from this and this is what they’ll get.

Prediction: 1-1

Fulham vs Tottenham- Sun, Feb 19 14:00

An all London FA Cup fair gets the Millionaire back underway on Sunday morning. Fulham welcome Tottenham to Craven Cottage, where they have lost only one of their last ten games. With nine goals in their last three at home, Fulham are an attacking menace at home. Fulham’s last four FA cup games have all seen more than two goals, so an exciting leg could be on the cards.

Tottenham have had their top four credentials challenged by manager Mauricio Pochettino. Following their 2-0 defeat to Liverpool, Spurs’ title challenge seems over. Before this, Spurs had been unbeaten in eleven games and were looking a force in all competitions. With a trip to Gent three days before this match, fatigue in the squad must be managed.

Pochettino came under criticism for his selections against Wycombe, but I can see him rotating again. This could be the last chance for players such as Janssen and I can see them pulling through.

Prediction: 1-2

FC Koln vs Schalke- Sun, Feb 19 16:30

The next leg of the Millionaire pool comes from the Bundesliga. FC Koln are undefeated at home this season and have conceded only five goals. Sitting seventh in the Bundesliga, they will be looking to catch sixth with a win against Schalke. Only Bayern have conceded fewer goals than Koln this season, with Koln having conceded 18.

After an impressive run of results in October and November, Schalke’s form has dipped. But, after consecutive wins last week, they will be looking to build on their eleventh place in the league. This comes between Europa League matches against PAOK, so once again rotation may play a role.

Koln are very strong and consistent at home, they will win this quite comfortably.

Prediction: 2-0

AC Milan vs Fiorentina- Sun, Feb 19 19:45

Seventh plays eighth in the Millionaire pool closer. AC Milan sit sixth in Serie A despite having one win in seven games. A late equaliser salvaged a point against Lazio on Monday and Milan will hope for better on Sunday. To do so, they will need to rectify back to back losses at the San Siro against Napoli and Sampdoria.

Fiorentina have a crunch week ahead, with this game preceded by a Europa league meeting with Borussia Monchengladbach. As of late, their away record has been poor with only two wins from their last six away from home. But, if they are to qualify for European matches next season then they need to make a push up the table.

A win here would be massive for both sides European ambitions. I can see these two cancelling each other out in an entertaining draw.

Prediction: Other Draw
