Kelso Win 6 Preview | 1st March

13.10 bet365 Handicap Chase

HELNWEIN hasn’t been able to build on the promise he displayed on his chase debut in two subsequent starts, but he’s well handicapped, and wind surgery may bring about significant improvement. There was a lot to like about the way REAL STONE put his rivals to the sword at Wetherby four weeks ago and a 6lb rise is unlikely to prevent another bold bid. GALLIC GEORDIE is almost a teenager but has held his form well and can compete off a mark that is lower than when last successful.

Tips: HELNWEIN, REAL STONE GALLIC GEORDIE

13.45 bet365 Premier Chase (Listed)

GREY DAWNING ran poorly in the King George last time out, but otherwise, he has rock-solid form to his name and last season’s Grade 1 winner at the Cheltenham Festival will be expected by most to get back to winning ways here. IROKO is an interesting challenger, though, and cannot be taken lightly on the back of a solid fourth at Cheltenham. The in-form EL ELEFANTE must also enter the reckoning being in receipt of weight from her two main rivals.

Tips: GREY DAWNING, IROKO & EL ELEFANTE

14.20 bet365 Handicap Hurdle

BOLD LIGHT is 1-1 in handicap company and his latest third at Musselburgh can be excused given he failed to appreciate the step up to three miles. He won his only previous course start by seven lengths, so we know the course suits, and he looks ready to make a serious impact. Dual course winner NAB WOOD and the hat trick-seeking ACE OF SPADES are others to consider in this wide-open contest.

Tips: BOLD LIGHT, NAB WOOD & ACE OF SPADES

14.55 bet365 Premier Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 2)

The unbeaten VANDERPOEL has posted some good time figures in both wins under rules and the form of his debut success has worked out well, as he had three subsequent winners in behind. He’s a major contender representing last year’s in-form winning stable. Willie Mullins’ CHART TOPPER has bolted up in both of his starts in this sphere and is feared most under Patrick Mullins.

Tips: VANDERPOEL & CHART TOPPER

15.30 bet365 Morebattle Hurdle (Handicap Hurdle)

TELLHERTHENAME shaped well when finishing fourth on his seasonal/stable debut in the Grade 1 Fighting Fifth Hurdle and his win at Huntingdon when beating subsequent dual Grade 2 winner Lucky Place, as well as his narrow second to Jango Baie reads well. He looks very well handicapped off a mark of 137 on his handicap debut. SLUGGER is on a four-timer, while WILFUL and Irish raider VISCHIO are others to note.

Tips: TELLHERTHENAME, SLUGGER, WILFUL & VISCHIO

16.04 bet365 Juvenile Hurdle

Although he’s the only lacking hurdle experience in public, FILIBUSTERING could very much outclass today’s field. He was the best of these on the Flat (rated much the highest) and represents rising star, Harry Derham. None of the others bring the potential he does, so he’s fancied to make a winning hurdles debut.

Tips: FILIBUSTERING
