Kelso Place 6 Preview | 28th February
13.10 bet365 Handicap Chase
TORNEO is largely consistent and came very close to winning a higher graded event at Windsor when last seen. A repeat showing could be good enough at this lower level, though BREIZH RIVER is a C&D winner and got back to winning ways at Musselburgh last time out.
Tips: TORNEO & BREIZH RIVER
13.40 bet365 Premier Chase (Listed)
It’s hard to see past PROTEKTORAT, who is a class above his three rivals and should be winning this with a clear round. However, if he somehow manages to fluff his lines, then expect MINELLA DRAMA to capitalise. He’s a course winner and has some smart form in the book, so he’s played as cover.
Tips: PROTEKTORAT & MINELLA DRAMA
14.15 bet365 Premier Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 2)
STARMOUNT made it two wins from three starts over hurdles at Wetherby last time out and wasn’t disgraced in a Grade 1 event at Aintree on his penultimate start. With more to come, Ben Pauling’s charge should be competitive, while Dan Skelton’s LE BEAU MADRIK, who has won both starts in this sphere, is very interesting stepping up in class. He could be up to the task.
Tips: STARMOUNT & LA BEAU MADRIK
14.55 bet365 Morebattle Hurdle (Handicap)
HAMLET’S NIGHT has made a good start to his hurdling career, winning twice and finishing second in the other three and is my best bet of the day. He’s been narrowly denied on his last two outings over timber, including when running a huge race to push Rubaud close in the Grade 2 Elite Hurdle event at Wincanton. Following a win on the Flat earlier this month, I strongly fancy him to go close.
Tips: HAMLET’S NIGHT
15.30 bet365 Handicap Hurdle
FINGAL’S HILL is in the form of his life and only found one too good in a similar event at Doncaster last time out. He ought to be in the shake up, but it’s about time FLORIDA DREAM returned to the winners circle. He’s placed so many times off higher marks and was fifth in the Morebattle Hurdle on this card last year. Off a 2lb lower figure, I think he’s a major player.
Tips: FINGAL’S HILL & FLORIDA DREAMS
16.00 bet365 Juvenile Hurdle
BRUCE BANNER seemingly beat Keyboard fair and square at Musselburgh on hurdles debut and I think the market has this all wrong. I see no reason why the latter should be turning the tables, so Rebecca Menzies’ charge is fancied to remain unbeaten over timber and prove that debut hurdles success to be no fluke.
Tips: BRUCE BANNER
