Haydock Place 6 Preview | 9th August
13.55 Aston Martin Nursery
ROYAL BODYGUARD has improved with each run and came from off the pace to finish third at Doncaster last month. He looks sure to make an impact off a low weight. BALLISTIC MISSILE was down the field at Royal Ascot last time out but won a good race on debut at York and might be worth another chance.
Tips: ROYAL BODYGUARD & BALLISTIC MISSILE
14.32 Tattersalls 40,000 EBF ‘Newcomers’ Maiden Fillies’ Stakes
Plenty of guesswork involved but hopefully breeding and other components can give us an indication. ZANTHOS is related to several good horses and this expensive breeze-up could go very well. PROPOSAL is another to merit consideration on debut. This daughter of Frankel hails from a yard that can ready one and has claims on paper.
Tips: ZANTHOS & PROPOSAL
15.07 Moatwood Gin Handicap
JUMBY most likely would have ended his long winless sequence without being hampered multiple times when a close-up third at Haydock last time out and has surprisingly been dropped a pound by the assessor. This former Group 2 winner must have outstanding claims. Another one to note is RIGHTHERE RIGHTNOW, who has C&D winning form and is on a nice weight.
Tips: JUMBY & RIGHTHERE RIGHTNOW
15.40 Newsells Park Stud Sweet Solera Stakes (Fillies’ Group 3)
DANCE TO THE MUSIC made the perfect start to her career when scoring on the July course three months ago. She has so much more to come and is a fascinating contender. VENETIAN LACE has the experience though. She has finished fourth in Listed and Group 2 events following a victory first time out and is a danger.
Tips: DANCE TO THE MUSIC & VENETIAN LACE
16.17 Close Brothers Handicap
THE FINGAL RAVEN has been really consistent in defeat this year and turned in another solid display when third at Sandown last month. The form has worked out well, with the first, second, fourth all doing their bit since. Despite his big weight, I give him a sound chance. Last-time-out winner WOLFPACK is feared most on handicap debut.
Tips: THE FINGAL RAVEN & WOLFPACK
16.50 Celebrating Kate O’Sullivan Handicap
EXPRESSIONLESS was last seen finishing a good second to an odds-on favourite and a reproduction should see him involved. He’s 3lb below his last winning mark, while CAPTAIN BRETT is another to consider. He has two wins and four placed efforts from his last six starts and is sure to be thereabouts once more.
Tips: EXPRESSIONLESS & CAPTAIN BRETT
