Haydock Place 6 Preview | 5th September
13.25 Betfair Backs Opinions Superior Mile Stakes (Group 3)
DANCING GEMINI looks like a standout choice in the opener. He’s mostly been competing at the highest level for a while and this Group 2 winner has a lot of form in Group 1 company (narrow misses on a few occasions) and is sure to appreciate the drop in grade. He is undoubtedly the best horse in this race and can make his class count.
Tips: DANCING GEMINI
13.55 Betfair Celebrates Bow Echo Ascendant Stakes (Listed)
FIRST LAW is fancied to extend his unbeaten record by seeing off Rocket Boy. He will have learned a lot from his debut success at Sandown a month ago. This potentially top-class prospect has so much more to offer and can win this before moving up in class in due course.
Tips: FIRST LAW
14.30 Best Odds On The Betfair Exchange Handicap
I really like the chances of the Karl Burke-trained GALILEAN QUALITY. He backed up his previous win at Ascot with an excellent second in the Melrose at York. The assessor has raised his mark by 5lb but that is the best form on offer and he’s fancied to continue his good run of form and shoulder top weight to success.
Tips: GALILEAN QUALITY
15.05 Betfair Exchange Old Borough Cup Handicap
David O’Meara could hold the key to this event with two big chances. Danny Tudhope has presumably picked ASHNAK over STRESSFREE and that could be significant. The former is largely consistent and could have a say in the outcome with more to come.
STRESSFREE, however, is 5lb lower than when third in this race last year and has plenty of other smart efforts off higher marks in the book. I think he has a fantastic chance, especially being back on his last winning mark. He ticks plenty of boxes and looks poised to pose another serious threat.
Tips: ASHNAK & STRESSFREE
15.40 Betfair Sprint Cup Stakes (Group 1)
MARVELMAN ran really well from the front when third in the City of York Stakes last time out and a repeat showing could see him gain a breakthrough win at the highest level. KIND OF BLUE isn’t as consistent as he once was but is a class act on his day and finished a good second in this event twelve months ago. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him turn in another good run.
Tips: MARVELMAN & KIND OF BLUE
16.15 Betfair Be Friendly Handicap
ADVERTISED produced a solid display when second at Hamilton last time out and a 2lb rise is unlikely to prevent another bold bid. He’s a leading contender, as is STURLASSON. He finished close-up second at Bath earlier in the year off a 2lb higher figure and is better than what he showed at Hamilton last time out behind the former.
Tips: ADVERTISED & STURLASSON
