Goodwood Win 4 Preview | 31st July
14.30 HKJC World Pool Gordon Stakes (Group 3)
I’m really liking the claims of WIMBLEDON HAWKEYE. This Group 2 winner has spent the majority of his career to date competing in top-class events and has run so well in defeat since last successful. Eased in grade, with the cheekpieces back on, James Owen’s consistent candidate makes plenty of appeal against the favourite.
Tips: WIMBLEDON HAWKEYE
15.05 Qatar Nassau Stakes (Fillies’ And Mares’ Group 1)
The Aidan O’Brien-trained WHIRL must have outstanding claims. She’s done nothing but improve, and following a narrow defeat to Minnie Hauk in the Oaks, she went one better in the Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh last month when beating Kalpana who has advertised the strength of the form since. I think she has an outstanding chance of providing connections with another success in the feature.
Tips: WHIRL
15.45 Buccellati Handicap
Connections of NAD ALSHIBA GREEN won this race twelve months ago and I think they can win it again with this progressive sprinter. She came close to making it two wins on the bounce when second at Sandown (winner got first run) and she’s only gone up 3lb as a result. This race should suit her better, so with Ross Ryan getting another chance on her back, I think this filly is a major player.
Tips: NAD ALSHIBA GREEN
16.20 Phase Eight Nursery
The Osborne’s AMAZING JOURNEY has progressed race-by-race and made it two wins on the bounce with an impressive win at Chepstow. He’s up in grade again, but this strong finisher should be coming through late and has every chance of landing the hat-trick.
Tips: AMAZING JOURNEY
