Goodwood Win 4 Preview | 2nd August

Goodwood WIN 4 – Day 5

14.30 Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes (Fillies’ & Mares’ Group 2)

WAARDAH is stepping up in grade, but she was so impressive in a Listed race at this course in June and this longer trip looks sure to bring about further improvement. Owen Burrows has a good strike rate here with his runners and this filly’s allowance will be an advantage. I think she’s a major contender under Callum Rodriquez.

Tips: WAARDAH

15.05 Coral Stewards’ Cup (Heritage Handicap)

KORKER has run some very good races since last successful off higher marks, including when third in last year’s Ayr Gold Cup. He hasn’t enjoyed the rub-of-the-green the last two times but he’s drawn well and should get the ideal setup. If things work out better for him, I can see Karl Burke’s sprinter outrunning his odds. He’s due a big success and it may well be today.

Tips: KORKER

15.45 Whispering Angel Handicap

ANDESITE was unsuited to the way the race panned out at Chester last weekend, but the way he finished off his race from an unfavourable track position suggests he’s going to be winning soon off this sort of mark. He sneaks into this off a low weight and has plenty more to come in the handicap ranks, so hopefully he can run a big race. Connor Beasley takes the ride.

Tips: ANDESITE

16.20 British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes (Colts & Geldings)

It’s hard to see past ISAAC NEWTON, who shaped promisingly when staying on strongly to finish second on debut at the Curragh. He’s open to a good deal of improvement with that experience under his belt and Ryan Moore is onboard on this occasion. Despite his short odds, it will take a good one to beat him.

Tips: ISAAC NEWTON
