TACKLING THE £2,000,000 FREEPLAY6

A chance to win £2,316,719 for free. What’s not to love about the FreePlay6? As we enter the first of 6 matchweeks in December, let’s preview the first FreePlay6 of the month.

Sunderland vs Leicester- Sat, Dec 03 15:00

Sunderland prop up the Premier League table as we enter the month. They’ll be looking to avoid the dreaded ‘bottom at Christmas’ label. I understand that going to Anfield is a difficult task for any team, but they must be looking to improve on 23% possession and facing 27 shots! Sunderland need another of their annual revivals in the New Year. Claudio Ranieri must be bemused about the dual identity of his side this season. Both managers will be demanding a result and I can see this being a hotly contested game.

Prediction: 1-1

Crystal Palace vs Southampton- Sat, Dec 03 15:00

Where to start with Palace’s performance last week? First the positives. Scoring 4 goals away from home in the Premier League is a good return in any game. But no team can afford to be conceding 5 goals in one game. Palace have the worst record of any English league club in 2016 and the pressure is building on Pardew. Unfortunately for them, I cannot see a home win with the visit of Southampton. The Saints are defensively solid and have the attacking players to cause this leaky Palace defence problems.

Prediction: 0-2

West Ham vs Arsenal- Sat, Dec 03 17:30

West Ham have struggled to make the London stadium feel like home and their league position reflects it. Over reliance on midfield sensation Dimitri Payet seems to have made the Hammers one-dimensional. A mid-week visit to Old Trafford makes the task of hosting Arsenal even more difficult. A first win in 4 games against Bournemouth has the Gunners looking more positively at their team. Finding an effective role for Giroud has given Wenger a second option to consider as we enter December. I’m backing Arsenal to grab a few goals this weekend.

Prediction: 1-3

Bournemouth vs Liverpool- Sun, Dec 04 13:30

Liverpool are expected to be without attacking quartet Coutinho, Firmino, Sturridge and Lallana for their mid-week game against Leeds. Klopp will be hopeful Lallana at the very least will be available for Sunday.  If Lallana doesn’t beat the clock for this game, Liverpool will be highly reliant on Mane to be their potent attacking weapon. Bournemouth will have Jack Wilshere available after being unavailable for selection against his parent club last weekend. This is an interesting proposition if Liverpool are reliant on rotation players filling injury gaps. Bournemouth are a tricky opposition and I’m backing a high scoring draw.

Prediction: AOD

Everton vs Man Utd- Sun, Dec 04 16:00

Since facing Chelsea in early November, Everton haven’t looked the same. Prior to this game, they were looking solid at the back and had attacking players scoring at the other end too. Now they have only 1 win in 8 Premier League games, yet still sit 7th and 1 point behind high spending Man Utd. With so many twists and turns in the drama at Old Trafford, it’s easy to forget United sit 6th despite big signings in the summer. I’m struggling to separate these two.

Prediction: 1-1

Middlesbrough vs Hull- Mon, Dec 05 20:00

To say Middlesbrough were unfortunate to come away from the King Power with only 1 point would be an understatement. The issue for Boro comes at home. Only 4 points at the Riverside is poor form to be basing a Premier League return on. They will be wanting to correct this issue and will see the visit of Hull as a great opportunity. The fact that Hull aren’t bottom with all the preseason drama, shows what great character Mike Phelan’s squad has. They too will be looking at this game to get some points and lift themselves out of the bottom 3. This game will be an edgy affair and will be decided by a moment of brilliance or calamity. Boro to edge it.

Prediction: 1-0
