5 Chelsea players who Frank Lampard could target for Everton

Frank Lampard has been given himself another opportunity to prove himself as a manager at Premier League level with the former midfielder now in place at Everton. Lampard has already started to make a mark on the squad he has inherited by adding Dele Alli and Donny van de Beek on deadline day, but what further signings could he make at the end of the season?

At Chelsea, Lampard established a pathway between the academy ranks and the first team and so it’s possible he could return to his former club to lure players he previously worked with to Merseyside. Here are five Chelsea players who could follow Lampard to Goodison Park at some point in the future.

5 Chelsea players who Frank Lampard could target for Everton

Armando Broja

It was under Lampard that Broja was handed his Chelsea debut. Since then the Albanian striker has flourished on loan at Southampton, where he has scored five times in 18 Premier League appearances this season. This has led to suggests Broja might be given an opportunity to prove himself for his parent club after the summer.

If, however, Broja is placed on the market once again, Everton would be foolish not to be interested. The 20-year-old is a sharp finisher and would give the Toffees the sort of penalty box presence they have missed for much of the 2021/22 season with Dominic Calvert-Lewin sidelined through injury.

Conor Gallagher

Few midfielders have caught the eye in the Premier League this season like Conor Gallagher. Indeed, the 21-year-old has seven goals in 19 games for Crystal Palace with Gallagher’s form strong enough to earn him an England debut in November. Many at Chelsea believe the midfielder will one day become a key figure for the club.

Everton could offer Gallagher another stepping stone. Frank Lampard could certainly use a goal-scoring midfielder to give his Everton team another dimension through the centre of the pitch, although Dele might fill this void after his January switch to Goodison Park. Nonetheless, Everton should at least ask Chelsea about Gallagher’s availability for next season.

Billy Gilmour

Widely considered one of Chelsea’s most promising young players, Billy Gilmour has struggled to make much of an impression on loan at Norwich City this season. The Scotland international has found himself in a difficult situation at Carrow Road with Daniel Farke publicly refuting the notion that he has a duty to play loan players.

There is, however, no doubting Gilmour’s technical ability. He is extremely comfortable on the ball and would give Everton a way to control matches in the centre of the pitch. Lampard knows Gilmour well after giving him his first team debut at Chelsea and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he returned for the Scot at his new club.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Long considered a future first team figure for Chelsea, Ruben Loftus-Cheek is approaching a career crossroads. Now 26, Loftus-Cheek is still seen as a peripheral figure at Stamford Bridge having started just seven Premier League matches so far this season. He needs to find regular game time and Everton could offer him this.

Loftus-Cheek is at his best when he is given space to stride into. Everton already have Abdoulaye Doucoure as a mobile central midfielder but the former Watford man has struggled for fitness this season. There is also no guarantee that Dele will be a success at Goodison Park with van de Beek only on loan until the end of the season.

Christian Pulisic

Early on in his Chelsea career, there were suggestions that Lampard and Christian Pulisic didn’t see eye-to-eye. However, the American soon became an important player for the Stamford Bridge club, registering nine goals and four assists in his first Premier League season for the Blues with Lampard at the helm.

Since then, Pulisic has struggled for form and fitness to the point that his future at Chelsea is now at risk. The 23-year-old is low on confidence and could use a new challenge to reinvigorate him. Frank Lampard could give Pulisic this at Everton although the Toffees already have a number of good options on the left side of their attack.
