Crayford betting tips: Rogue Mustang will be tough to beat

Departing from his Friday night Romford tips, Cheltmental takes on the £15,000 Win 8 at Crayford on Tuesday evening. He reckons that Rogue Mustang is his nap of the night. If you agree with his Crayford betting tips then join his Syndicate.

Cheltmental: “Typically I’ve been writing articles in which the majority of the racing has been Open class. Here I try something a little bit different with an all graded meeting at Crayford. However, I’d still be hopeful of another good showing.”

18:33 – 380m – A7

A fairly low level start where the majority of runners have plenty of experience. This means, in theory, we should know what we’re going to get from them.

The two lightly-raced runners are OXWITCH GIRL in Trap 1 and WHIZZY IMP in Trap 4. The former is more consistent from the boxes, bar a missed break on her last outing. She looks to be drawn well enough to suggest that she might be able to skip round the inside.  She does have a bit to find on the clock but she’s going the right way.

WHIZZY IMP isn’t so consistent from lid rise but she has been contesting in better company. She’s drawn between two runners who might just afford her time to get round the first. If she can enter the back straight with a clear run, I think she’ll win this. She is only 23 kilos so she wouldn’t take much bumping.

Trap 6, SWIFT BEETLE, might get a nice path on the outside. She’s another small runner but on the clock she’s steady enough. Trap 3 will be staying on and has the times to land this but would need some luck in-running.

Selections – 1, 4

18:49 – 380m – A5

Traps 2, 3 and 4 are having their first starts at the course outside of trials and all three should improve for those recent spins. They also all posses good pace early so there’s a fair chance of trouble at the bend.

Both 5 and 6 aren’t short of early pace either and AUNTIE ZENA has run well in her last two, that’s usually a line to follow so she’s on the slip.

Trap 1, DEECEES OSCAR, is the eldest runner but with a clear run he could be quick enough and with the chance of trouble looking high I’d give him a chance.

Selections – 1, 5

19:07 – 380m – A3

PENNYS CHARON trialled very well following her season. Given she’s only just turned two, she should have bundles more to come. She won when last seen in this grade so ticks a lot of boxes.

Trap 2, SNOWDON JAY, missed the kick in her latest run but showed enough pace beforehand to suggest this Grade is within his grasp. He’s better known over further but is drawn well enough.

TOUCHDOWN URSULA is a youngster but she was good last time. A repeat of her early pace would give her a chance. However, Trap 4 on her outside is blessed with plenty of early pace. The outside trio all want to lead to win but ANNUAL JAZZ is probably the best drawn of them in Trap 4. She drops in grade here but really does need to lead to win.

Selections – 1, 2, 4

19:23 – 380m – H2

A Graded hurdle race here to mix things up a bit but, more often than not, these dogs race in this sphere because they’re not the most genuine. Trap 1 is plenty quick enough and could slip clear on the inside but he’s made mistakes jumping before.

EASTER RISING in 3 and BALLYMAC CAPRI closely contested in this Grade last time out and were only split by half a length, so a similar effort can be expected again although they’re not the quickest.

PESKY PARTRIDGE in 5 has been tried in better company and must have a chance here. CYCLERS SAM in 4 has won in this Grade 4 times since the end of August so knows what to do. He does want to lead to win and was behind 5 last time they met.

Selections – 1, 3, 5, 6

19:38 – 540m – S8

ROGUE MUSTANG was sent off as favourite in this grade last time but met with trouble early. Even so, he clocked a fast enough time to land this and he looks to be one of the better chance on the card. He comes second fairly often, which is a worry, but he’s drawn well here and he’s good enough to be our only selection in this leg.

Selection – 5

19:54 – 380m – A5

Traps 1, 4 and 5 were all favourites in this Grade in their previous runs and the latter pair were beaten by under a length. Trap 6 was beaten by a head in this grade and FREEKY COUGAR in 3 won as favourite in an A6 last time out.

With that in mind, this looks a tricky race to pick apart. I’d be confident that the winner comes from that first trio mentioned though. They all look well enough drawn to show their best.

Selections – 1, 4, 5

20:11 – 380m – A6

PROSECCO ROSE was sent off as 11/10 fav in a lower grade on her last start but she wasn’t able to show her usual early enthusiasm. She’s drawn here to be right up with the pace and, with a clear run, she’s the one to beat.

Recent winner FREEKY PUMBA in 4 looks a danger and DEANRIDGE PSYCHO in 1 has been dropped in grade twice in two starts and recently qualifying, so commands respect if our selection in 2 fluffs her lines.

Selection – 2

20:27 – 380m – A4

The last leg looks as tricky as any but I’m drawn towards the inside runners. Trap 1 was a winner when last seen in this grade two starts back but needs one of her better starts again.

Traps 2 and 3 are still puppies but both won in A5 last time. Either could follow up with some luck in-running here. The three outside traps probably all want to lead to win so the race will take shape at the first bend. However, I’d hope we’ve got the right cover with our three.

Selections – 1, 2, 3
