Colossus Q&A: Laurence Jones | Head of Product
In the first of a new Q&A series where we will introduce you to several of the key Colossus staff members, we speak to Laurence Jones who is our Head of Product.

How long have you worked at Colossus? Since day one, so seven and a half years to date.
What does a typical day in your role look like? I don’t tend to have a typical day at Colossus. There is always a lot of spontaneous interaction across the room, a huge benefit of having everyone on the same floor.
Most days begin with a strict ‘to do’ list but don’t necessarily end with all of it ticked off. Mornings are taken up by daily stand ups and team check ins before picking up any B2B partner requests and working through new product requirements.
I work a lot more with our technical team these days and I’d say their typical day is pushing back on most mad product requests me and my team come up with.
What is the one feature or sport you would like to see Colossus add? That would be telling! We are currently looking at more varied content on special one-off events. From the Ryder Cup to Eurovision, Love Island to the Olympics, we aim to become a one stop shop for our client’s pool betting needs.
Funniest moment working at Colossus? Either our esteemed CEO pulling some questionable shapes on the dance floor at my wedding in 2016 or the rather odd entertainment at our team dinner at the first iGaming Supershow in Amsterdam I attended. Normally neither a working day or a post-work pub trip doesn’t go by without a few laughs.
Proudest moment at Colossus? Watching the development of many of the team that I hired in my previous role. Plenty have gone on to fill senior positions within Colossus and continue to drive the company forward today.
If you weren’t a Product Manager what would you be? It’s a tough business, but I’d love to be involved in the business of breeding racehorses. I’m often found studying pedigrees and form in the evening, so something related to running the business side of a stud farm I’d like to think.
Favourite sport? I’ll take two, Horse Racing and Golf.
Favourite football team? Everton
Favourite film? The Lion King – I’ve a huge passion for animation (2D only please!)
Favourite TV series? Not much of a telly watcher, generally whatever is on one of the racing channels. The one I really can’t wait to return though is Line of Duty.
Top 3 albums of all time? Queen – Innuendo, Fleetwood Mac – Rumours, Oasis – (What’s the story) Morning Glory?
If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life? Slow cooked leg of lamb on the BBQ with Greek salad if I’m cooking.
Quiet night in or loud night out? Quiet night in over loud night out all day long. A proper treat of a night out involves the pub to start, a nice hotel cocktail bar and then a fine dining restaurant somewhere in the West End with my better half.
