Chepstow Place 6 Preview | 5th November

12.30 Heckler & Koch – No Compromise Maiden Hurdle

Although he’s not been seen for a while, ROCKING MAN still appeals the most to me in the opener. He bolted up on debut at the course before finishing second to Queensbury Boy back here. He lost little in defeat when filling the same spot behind Jurancon at Hereford in March that same year and could make up for lost time now over hurdles. His trainer knows how to ready one.

Tips: ROCKING MAN

13.00 Heckler & Koch – No Compromise Maiden Hurdle

KINGSTON QUEEN developed into one of the best of the UK bumper horses last season, winning twice and placing three times, including when third in a strong Grade 2 bumper event at Aintree. There’s plenty to like about her credentials on her hurdles debut in receipt of weight. She looks poised to rank higher.

Tips: KINGSTON QUEEN

13.30 Jaltek Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Chase

A difficult race to assess but RINGSEND JOHN has won three times since last seen under rules and could appreciate this sort of trip. An opening mark of 100 seems reasonable, too. ROE AND CO should be able to take a step forward from his distant third at Ffos Las and make more of an impact.

Tips: RINGSEND JOHN & ROE AND CO

14.00 Angela Nettlefold Memorial ‘National Hunt’ Maiden Hurdle

I really like the chances of the Paul Nicholls-trained SWINGIN SAFARI, who did very well in bumpers last season, with a win and three placed efforts, including in Listed/Grade 2 events. The form of his fourth at Aintree has already worked out well and he’s undergone wind surgery since that performance.

Tips: SWINGIN SAFARI

14.30 Angela Nettlefold Memorial ‘National Hunt’ Maiden Hurdle

This looks a deep enough race for the with Kadastral, Sober Glory and GRAND GARCON locking horns and the vote goes to the latter, who could prove capable of making a winning hurdles debut. He ran an eye-catching race when staying on to finish second in a bumper here in March and has been freshened up since.

Tips: GRAND GARCON

15.00 NMS UK Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase

Plenty to consider in this competitive heat. The one I do like though is SOUTHOFTHEBORDER who looks well handicapped off a mark of 119 and the Henrietta Knight team is in really good form. The seven-year-old beat two 120+ rated horses with considerable ease on his second start over hurdles and is open to further improvement after four starts over the larger obstacles.

Tips: SOUTHOFTHEBORDER
