Chepstow Place 6 Preview | 26th March

14.18 ECIS Health Conditional Jockeys’ Training Series Handicap Hurdle

A lot of these have something to prove so it’s wise to focus on the top of the market. THE SWAY and Timeforarum both won last-time-out but it’s the former who shades the vote. He landed a gamble when scoring from the front at Southwell 24 days ago and a similar showing could see him repeat the dose.

Tips: THE SWAY

14.50 Glidevale Protect Handicap Chase

YES AND YES returned as a convincing winner the last time he ran at this venue, so he’s not one to dismiss off only a pound higher mark. JUST IN A BIT should be better suited to this longer trip having got going far too late last time out when third. He has placed on all three chase outings and is open to further improvement, so he’s one for the shortlist.

Tips: YES AND YES & JUST IN A BIT

15.20 Ashcroft Services Mares’ ‘National Hunt’ Novices’ Hurdle

JUST A GLANCE ran a race full of promise when second on debut in a bumper at Aintree before easily going one better on her first start over hurdles at Hereford. She is the one to beat but newcomer EVENING TESS for the Dan Skelton team is interesting on paper and could be set to go well. The Procrastinator may prefer softer ground.

Tips: JUST A GLANCE & EVENING TESS

15.50 Stephens Industries EPDM Flat Roofing Handicap Chase

GOLD EMERY has made the frame so many times since scoring on debut four years ago that he’s surely due a success. He’s only found one too good on his last couple of starts and another bold bid is highly on the cards. STELLAR STREAM has placed twice at this course off a 10lb higher figure, so he’s handicapped to have a say in the matter.

Tips: GOLD EMERY & STELLAR STREAM

16.20 DB Roofing Novices’ Handicap Hurdle

This is wide-open but I’ll chance two. SAILING BY shaped nicely when third on debut at this venue and has continued to offer promise since, so he’s a first-time handicapper to note. I’ll also cover LOCKED DOWN LAD. He placed five times last year, including here, so he should be able to run a big race off a low weight.

Tips: SAILING BY & LOCKED DOWN LAD

16.50 NFRC South West Roofing Industry Handicap Hurdle

DEVON DUDE has been disappointing of late but was running well here back in November before two costly mistakes and could go well off this 10lb lower mark. TEORIE has good form at a higher level, so can’t be ruled out off this reduced mark, while COLONIAL EMPIRE is another to consider after finishing runner-up the last two times.

Tips: DEVON DUE, TEORIE & COLONIAL EMPIRE
