Cheltenham Win 6 Preview | 12th March
13.20pm – Turners Novices’ Hurdle
FINAL DEMAND was extremely impressive when powering to success at the Dublin Racing Festival despite a slow pace and the Turners Novices’ Hurdle should be run to suit him much better. Willie Mullins has an excellent record in the race, too, so he’s fancied to oblige in the opener. Fellow unbeaten rival THE NEW LION is the main hope of the Brits and is the viable back-up choice.
Tips: FINAL DEMAND & THE NEW LION
14.00pm – Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase
BALLYBURN should take some stopping in the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase. He showed bags of stamina when seeing off Croke Park last time out and was very impressive at this meeting last year. He is the clear top-rated and already has multiple Grade 1 wins to his name, so he is our BANKER on the ticket.
Tips: BALLYBURN
14.40pm – Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle
A competitive edition of the Coral Cup. BALLYADAM has always run well at this fixture and should be on the premises again, while COLONEL MUSTARD is a class horse and his form this season has worked out well. I actually think he’s going to take a bit of beating despite being one of the outsiders. JIMMY DU SEUIL seems a bit of a plot job by Willie Mullins on handicap debut, while BUNTING, COMFORT ZONE and BE AWARE are others to consider.
Tips: BALLYADAM, COLONEL MUSTARD, JIMMY DU SEUIL, BUNTING, COMFORT ZONE AND BE AWARE
15.20pm – Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase
STUMPTOWN was brilliant when winning here last time out and could be the real deal in this division. Even though he shoulders top-weight, Gavin Cromwell’s charge is fancied to make it four consecutive wins in the cross country scenario. His stablemate VANILLIER returned to winning ways last time out and is feared most, ahead of veteran ROI MAGE and BUSSELTON.
Tips: STUMPTOWN, VANILLIER, ROI MAGE & BUSSELTON
16.00pm – BetMGM Queen Mother Champion Chase
ENERGUMENE has won this twice, so even though he is up against it facing JONBON again, he must be respected. The latter is at the peak of his powers, though, and has been brilliant in winning all starts this season. He should be very hard to beat. These two are head and shoulders above the rest, so it should be a great race!
Tips: ENERGUMENE & JONBON
16.40pm – Debenhams Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Challenge Cup Handicap Chase
AMERICAN MIKE and SO SCOTTISH have both been laid out for this race. The former has plenty of quality graded form to his name and looks well treated off his current mark. If he jumps well, there’s no reason why he cannot run a massive race. The latter has been warming up for this with some spins over hurdles and has unfinished business in this sphere, while JAZZY MATTY and THIRD TIME LUCKY cannot be ruled out.
Tips: AMERICAN MIKE, SO SCOTTISH, JAZZY MATTY & THIRD TIME LUCKY
