Cartmel Place 6 Preview | 27th June
14.38 Lakeland Verandahs Maiden Hurdle
EMIYN, a very smart stayer on the Flat, and has shaped promisingly in placing on both starts so far in this sphere, which were in tougher assignments.
Tips: EMIYN
15.08 Hadwins Mares’ Handicap Hurdle
SHANTOU SUNSET has some good form at this course in higher-grade events, placing several times off stiffer figures. She took a step forward from her reappearance to finish fourth here last month and has leading claims at this level. The other one to consider is VARINIA, who won with more in hand than the margin suggested at Fakenham, and has every chance off only a 3lb higher mark. Down in grade, with this longer trip expected to suit, the eight-year-old has standout claims.
Tips: SHANTOU SUNSET & VARINIA
15.43 Krol Corlett Handicap Chase
FAIRLAWN FLYER is on a roll at present, winning his last four starts, including over C&D five weeks ago, and has every chance of completing the five-timer. Stablemate EQUUS DANCER cannot be taken lightly though, as he’s thrown in on old form, so he’s played as the cover option.
Tips: FAIRLAWN FLYER & EQUUS DANCER
16.18 William Hill Handicap Chase
SEAN OG is a three-time winner in this sphere, including twice over C&D, and is back on his last winning mark. He is heavily respected despite his big weight. WHOSHOTTHESHERIFF isn’t the force of old, but he would have thumped this field in his prime, and is too well handicapped to dismiss. The in-form FOLLOW YOUR ARROW is another to note.
Tips: SEAN OG, WHOSHOTTHESHERIFF & FOLLOW YOUR ARROW
16.55 Warrior Down Novices’ Handicap Chase
SKY LUNA has been disappointing the last three times, but her two in-the-frame efforts here last June and April are decent pieces of form, so she cannot be taken lightly if back on track. Irish raider CLOUGHROE has only found one too good on his last couple of starts and should be bang in contention.
Tips: SKY LUNA & CLOUGHROE
17.30 John Wade Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle
GAME MANAGEMENT has taken well to this discipline, recording a win and a placed effort from two starts, and could be well treated on handicap debut. He is one to consider at huge odds, while GREENROCK ABBEY is officially 10lb “well in” having scored over fences by 12 lengths at Market Rasen seven days ago.
Tips: GAME MANAGEMENT GREENROCK ABBEY
