Cartmel Place 6 Preview | 19th July

13.40 Hadwins Novices’ Hurdle

CAUGHTINYOURTRANCE returned as a clear winner over C&D three weeks ago, so even under a penalty with a big weight to carry, is unlikely to prevent another bold bid. Charlotte Jones can steer him home to another success in the opener.

Tips: CAUGHTINYOURTRANCE

14.15 Cartmel Novices’ Limited Handicap Hurdle

JLOW again only found a couple too good at Worcester earlier this month and she remains on the same mark. She ought to be winning soon based on those couple of recent placed efforts, so she’s fancied to have a say in the matter.

Tips: JLOW

14.50 Burlington Female Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle

BOOK OF SECRETS finished third at this course last year and would have won here three weeks ago if his rider didn’t misjudge the winning post, but off only a 5lb higher mark, I can see him making amends. He would only need to reproduce that latest effort to go very close.

Tips: BOOK OF SECRETS

15.22 PSR Marquees Crystal Cup Handicap Hurdle

HURRICANE ALI came so close to winning this race last year when third off a 10lb higher figure and must have outstanding claims if he can stage a repeat. He should appreciate the drop down in class and the fact that his jockey can take off a further 10lb means he is the best in the race. I think he’s been hugely overlooked.

Tips: HURRICANE ALI

16.00 Windermere School Handicap Chase

NO BUT I WILL recently placed in two consecutive races, something which is a rarity for him, so despite creeping back up in the weights, I can see him being competitive. He remains 4lb lower than when last got his head in front.

Tips: NO BUT I WILL

16.35 MB Digital Handicap Chase

Multiple course winner JELSKI isn’t the force of old, but he’s now 25lb lower than when last successful at the venue and must be considered as a leading contender off a career-low figure of 86. He’s the choice of Charlotte Jones, so hopefully he can roll back the years.

Tips: JELSKI
