Carlisle Place 6 Preview | 30th May
13.30 Betway Handicap
CLAYMORE is dangerously well handicapped on the pick of his form being a former Group 3 winner and could outrun his odds. CASTLE STUART has caught the eye on all of his last three starts, including when sixth at York when last seen and has a fair chance off a pound lower figure if enjoying a smooth passage (wasn’t the case last time).
Tips: CLAYMORE & CASTLE STUART
14.00 Betway Reverence Handicap
HAVANA RUM went very close on his reappearance when second in a stronger event at Pontefract and wasn’t disgraced when sixth at Doncaster last time out. Off a pound lower mark, he could go well. MISTER SOX went close off this mark on his penultimate start and is another worth a second look.
Tips: HAVANA RUM & MISTER SOX
14.33 Betway Achilles Stakes (Listed)
It’s about time ROGUE LIGHTNING returned to winning ways. He has been unlucky on a few occasions since last successful and should be able to step forward from his reappearance in France. He has the form to be in the mix, while CELANDINE is another with leading credentials.
Tips: ROGUE LIGHTNING & CELANDINE
15.10 Betway Lester Piggott Fillies’ Stakes
ESTRANGE should be able to outclass the opposition on her seasonal reappearance. She finished runner-up in two Group 1s towards the end of last season and this dual Group winner is down in grade. Even though she lacks a recent run, she must be considered as the one to beat.
Tips: ESTRANGE
15.45 Betway Silver Bowl Handicap
The one I am drawn to is CREST OF FIRE. He opened his account by 10 lengths at Southwell back in March and looks very well treated off a mark of 86. He had previously pushed Mcmurray very close at Doncaster last September and the winner has won two more times since. I think he has an outstanding chance on handicap debut.
Tips: CREST OF FIRE
16.20 Betway Fillies’ Handicap
Off a low weight, and more to come, I like the claims of DISTANT SHORE. She did well to score on debut before staying on well after a low break to finish third at Thirsk when last seen. Off an opening mark of 78, Roger Varian’s filly looks sure to be thereabouts with improvement to come.
Tips: DISTANT SHORE
