Carlisle Place 6 Preview | 2nd November

12.32 PricedUp.Bet Gordon Richards Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase

In the opening race on the card, I like the look of THE JUKEBOX KID. He won his sole point and made a successful debut under rules at Uttoxeter in March. The six-year-old wasn’t able to match that form at Ayr the following month, but he retains potential and an opening mark of 122 seems lenient. He looks like a big player.

Tips: THE JUKEBOX KID

13.02 PricedUp Novices’ Hurdle

Hurdle debutant TORMUND GIANTSBANE must have every chance. He was a winner first-time-out at Worcester before looking unlucky not to remain unbeaten when narrowly denied at Warwick. He hasn’t been seen since, but connections will leave no stone unturned and he should be able to make an impact with a clear round.

Tips: TORMUND GIANTSBANE

13.32 PricedUp.Bet Houghton Mares’ Chase

The Mares’ Listed Chase event is fascinating, especially with Telepathique making her eagerly-awaited return. However, I do think she’s slightly vulnerable, and preference is for PAGGANE at the odds. Faye Bramley’s charge was very consistent when formerly trained by Willie Mullins and has shaped well on all three starts for this yard. Her latest second in the Silver Trophy on her return was really solid, too.

Tips: PAGGANE

14.02 Stephex Trucks UK Castletown Handicap Hurdle

I’m siding with Olly Murphy’s KAPAL LAYAR. The six-year-old was a massive improver last season and was impressive when winning his last two starts. He’s nine pound higher than when scoring at Perth, but surely has more to come and I think he has the potential to rate higher.

Tips: KAPAL LAYAR

14.37 Colin Parker Memorial Intermediate Chase

HANDSTANDS is unbeaten when completing over fences and this Grade 1 winning chaser is likely to have too much pace for Resplendent Grey when push comes to shove. The latter is respected but has 10lb to find with Ben Pauling’s charge, who will be better suited to the distance.

Tips: HANDSTANDS

15.12 PricedUp Cumberland Handicap Chase

This is wide-open but INIS OIRR is more than capable when at his best and his 2lb lower than when an easy winner of the Edinburgh National last year. Off a handy mark, with fitness assured following a neck-second on his seasonal reappearance here, the eight-year-old looks set to play a major role in the outcome.

Tips: INIS OIRR
